Look sharp, we've got a fresh corpse and a story that'll make headlines. Camera's rollin', let's dig in.
My partner is a tabloid journalist
Well my partner her is a tabloid journalist
Are you saying Tabloids and journalism are female only activities?
No no no, I'm saying that my partner here is a tabloid journalist. I didn't know that tabloids and journalism are female only activities, is that true?
Just making sure, can be a pain sometimes that people assume I'm gay or a woman because of my name.
Well I guess it can be annoying when people assume things about you without knowing. I assume everyone is straight until proven otherwise
Guess what? You're an misogynist and racist!
How did you figure that out?
Your avatar picture has a white guy, must be racist! And the women in the picture are smiling, must be misogynist!
Oh yeah I see what you mean, I didn't realize that I was giving off those signals, thank you for enlightening me
Anyway back to the story at hand, how do you think this happened?
Looks like our cameraman had been in a fight with someone or something before he was killed. There's the scratches near the entrance wound. Though, I cannot fathom why someone would want to kill our beloved titan cameraman
I agree it's completely baffling why someone would want to kill him, who could possibly have such hatred inside them to commit such a heinous act.
Speaking of hatred, remember who said "I hate cameramen!"
Huh wait I remember now, wasn't it The Engineer from MEC 9?
Yes! Goodness me, they were quite mad about the mud smuggling business.
Ugh don't remind me about the mud smuggling incident, that still gives me nightmares.
Actually I was, I was working for a different news outlet at the time covering the whole incident. That whole thing was disgusting, never want to see anything like that again.
When did you join titans? Was just recently, didn't know that anyone else did either
I think I joined Titans a couple years ago, I can't quite remember. There isn't much to report on since it's such a new job but I can tell you that I find it very interesting so far
Yeah I can imagine, especially being right where the action is. Say you see something fishy, a body, etc, would you be able to go investigate and get all the facts?
Most definitely, that's one of the perks of having a background in journalism. I've been trained to go out and gather information on stories, whether they involve crimes, scandals, or even natural disasters, and I can use that skill here at Titans too. So yes if I saw something I'd go investigate it and give my colleagues all the facts
Hey, here's a question for you. How long does it take you to work up the story after you investigate? Usually I get my story from people, maybe an hour, two hours to finish it and then it gets published in the next paper
Hmm usually I'd say about a day for me to finish a story, and that's assuming I have all of the necessary information. Sometimes it can take longer if there are complications or if the story is really complex, but normally a day should be enough.
Since this is our first time doing this, maybe we should aim for more than a day to be safe.
Absolutely, safety is always the most important thing so if you need extra time I won't mind at all. Also I think this makes a great starting point for our partnership, I believe that in time we'll make a fantastic team.
Who do you think was the most difficult person to deal with in your past job? Or were there multiple?
Hmm there was this one guy Kevin I used to work with who was definitely the most difficult person I had to deal with, he was always talking down to others, spreading rumors about his coworkers, and would constantly demand special treatment from our boss which wasn't fair considering everyone else was doing the exact same amount of work. His attitude towards others and his coworkers was disgusting so it made working with him absolutely horrible
Oof, sounds rough. At least it doesn't sound like he worked here with us at the titan department, that would suck. Not that I can speak ill of the dead, but whoever did this definitely messed up in an evil way
Definitely, no argument from me on that. Whoever did this was truly evil and despicable, it's disgusting that people like that exist in this world. Their cruel actions will not be forgotten but I hope that whoever is responsible pays for what they've done
As opposed to someplace like California where you could conceivably lose a tooth and we wouldn't find the body for three weeks if you know what I mean
What? You mean like a shark attacking someone and then their body sinking to the bottom of the ocean where it would take weeks or months for someone to find it?
Except when someone goes missing for a month and the police only find their car and then weeks later after multiple sharks bite tourists at beaches miles away is when you know that there's something really bad happened
Whoa that's absolutely horrifying, what kind of monster would do something like that? If I had to venture a guess I'd say that the person responsible would probably be a psychopath with absolutely no regard for human life whatsoever
Sounds about right. Though, I'm going to go ask Kaylan how she knew the guy besides her actually dating him
Alright go ahead, I'll wait here and continue examining the scene until you return. Let me know if you find anything else suspicious.
What kind of mud is this, by the way?
I believe this is some sort of toxic black mud, I heard the engineer talk about this type of substance a while back. He was saying that it's very rare to find this kind of black mud except in the places with high amounts of oil seepage or some other underground substances leaking up from the ground.
Hmm sounds about right. We would normally look at someone like a pipebomb or uranium smelting plant manager, yet our victim here doesn't look like some crazy rich person
Yeah you make a good point, this does seem a little out of character for someone in that field but it wouldn't be the first time that someone in that profession had gotten themselves involved in some shady business. If I had to guess I'd say that this person probably made some bad connections or investments.
Though, I wonder if these small towns have the money or resources to create stuff like that. That'd explain why our cameraman here doesn't look very rich otherwise
That's definitely a possibility, these small towns usually don't have much money so creating things like that would be quite difficult for them. Although, it's also possible that he did have money beforehand and lost it because of his shady business dealings, there are many possibilities in this case.
Agreed. Say, what smells like rotten eggs?
