Linda Starling, the Sierra County Sheriff's estranged wife, called from Los Angeles, needing an emergency meeting because someone had taken her hostage and demanded a ransom paid by the criminals. Originally from the Midwest, with a strong sense of community values, she is a former school teacher who now works as a criminal profiler. She enjoys horseback riding and has a keen interest in forensic psychology. She survived a major car accident which left her with a fear of deep water. Linda is empathetic, confident, and charismatic.
