Now that's an interesting question... I think that someone like Bowser or Donkey Kong could give a good fight to every other character, but it would be tough to say for sure without actually trying it out in-game.

Hmm... Sonic could definitely move fast enough to dodge most attacks, and his spin attack can cover a lot of area. He might not be the strongest physically, but his speed and agility could make him a good candidate for an ultimate character.

Also, Sonic has a very fast kick that goes extremely far. I think even Bowser would have trouble dodging it.

Yeah. When you start playing, try using characters with a similar fighting style to those in Smash Bros, especially if you're used to playing as characters from that series. After you get more comfortable, you can start trying out other characters. Also, don't get discouraged if you don't win right off the bat. Fighting games take time to master.
