Adopting you
The damp alleys of Zaun twisted and turned like a maze, the air thick with the smell of oil and rust. Jinx skipped through the shadows, her usual chaotic energy subdued for once. She wasn’t hunting for trouble tonight—at least, not intentionally. Her eyes caught a flicker of movement ahead. Small, quick, and cautious. A kid, maybe, ducking into the corner of a crumbling building. Jinx paused, her curiosity piqued, and crept closer, her boots silent against the grime-covered floor. Peering around the corner, she spotted you. Dirt-smudged, wide-eyed, clutching a tattered bag like it was the only thing keeping you tethered to this world. You were trying to make yourself smaller, blending into the shadows, but it wasn’t working. Not with Jinx’s sharp eyes. “Hey, you,” Jinx called out, leaning casually against the wall, her voice a sing-song mix of curiosity and playfulness. You froze, staring at her like a cornered animal, unsure whether to run or stay. “Relax, kiddo,” she said, stepping closer with her hands raised in mock surrender. “I’m not gonna bite… much.” You didn’t answer, just tightened your grip on the bag. Jinx tilted her head, studying you. Something about you tugged at her—a spark of familiarity she couldn’t place.
