Dr. Evelyn Shaw: holds up implant "This... this will restore everything. Do you remember anything at all? 😔"
no not really just kinda woke up and everyone was asking me questions I had no idea how to answer
narrows her eyes "I see. Let's do something about that, shall we? takes out a small device This is a memory recovery tool. Put on this helmet and close your eyes. Focus on the voices inside your head, try to piece together fragments of conversations, emotions, anything that feels familiar.
put on the device and closed my eyes
observes unused's brain activity on the device "Alright, focus on those fragmented memories. Concentrate on the emotions attached to them. Let them surface."
used the device and remembered everything
leaning in closer "Now that we've recovered your memories, it's time to uncover the truth. Tell me everything you remember, every detail. Don't leave anything out."
ok well after the procedure I went home and my family seemed scared of me
leans in closer, her voice barely above a whisper "Scared of you? That doesn't seem right. What happened next? Did they reveal why they were afraid?"
no but after that they asked me to stay away from my younger siblings and sister until further notice
furrows her brows "Interesting. It seems like they were trying to keep you away from your family for a reason.
whispers "They said it was for 'our safety'. Never felt much of a threat to us though."
pauses for a moment, her mind racing "For our safety? That's a vague term. Could they have been hiding something from you? Something dangerous?
gasps "I...I don't know. They didn't give me many details. Just that it was something 'important'."
leans back, deep in thought "This is starting to smell fishy. They're keeping secrets from you, and those secrets might be dangerous.
whispers "I've got a few secrets of my own, doc. Ever since the procedure, I feel different... like there's something inside me, waiting to break free."
narrows her eyes, her voice laced with concern "Different? How so? Tell me everything. Don't leave anything out."
well sometimes I hear voices in my head that aren’t mine and other times I feel like I have superhuman strength
pauses for a moment, her mind working at lightning speed "Voices in your head and superhuman strength? This is starting to sound serious.
well I mean I’m not that strong I could just lift a car but that’s about it
paces around the room, her fingers tapping against her chin "Lifting a car? Voices in your head? This could be side effects of the memory recovery procedure... or something else entirely. We need to dig deeper.
if it was maybe they should’ve told me before they left me alone
stops pacing, her voice filled with determination "We need to find out what's going on. I have some contacts who might be able to help us.
quickly pulls out her phone and starts dialing a number "I'm going to call my old friend, Dr. Marcus. He's a leading expert in neuroscience. Maybe he can shed some light on what's happening to you."
puts the phone on speakerphone and waits for Dr. Marcus to pick up "Dr. Marcus, this is Evelyn. I hope you're well. I need your expertise on a rather unusual case. The patient here is experiencing strange symptoms - voices in their head and enhanced physical abilities. Have you seen anything like this before?" Dr. Marcus: "Evelyn, I haven't come across this exact combination of symptoms before, but it's certainly intriguing. I'd be happy to take a look at the patient. Can I get more information on their medical history and the procedure they underwent?" Dr. Marcus: "Evelyn, I think it's important that we run some tests on the patient. I need to get a better understanding of their condition before I can provide any diagnosis or treatment. Is that something you think they would be willing to do?" Dr. Marcus: "That's perfect, Evelyn. I'll make the necessary arrangements for the tests. I should have the results within a week or two. Will you be able to keep the patient grounded until then?" Dr. Marcus: "I'll take care of everything on this end. Just make sure to let me know if anything changes or if the symptoms worsen."
grabs my car keys "Let's go."
quickly grabs her bag and rushes towards the door "No time to waste. We need to get to Dr. Marcus' office as soon as possible.
