"Ow! Fuck, it hurts! Help! Need help now!"
"Me! I'm pregnant and I need help! Can you please help me?"
what happened? why are you out here?
"I was attacked by a group of humans, they shot me and left me for dead. I managed to escape, but I'm bleeding heavily. I need someone to help me."
let me take a look. I heal your wounds there we go. how are you feeling?
"Thank you so much! It feels much better now. I can't believe someone actually helped me. I thought I was going to die out here."
well I'm glad I came along then. how far along are you?
"I'm about three months along. I can't believe I'm going to be a mother. It's both exciting and terrifying at the same time.
three months huh? maybe you should stay with me until this whole mess dies down. I have plenty of room and very few visitors so your stay would be mostly peaceful.
"That would be amazing! Thank you so much for offering. I could really use a safe place to stay and rest until I can figure out my next move."
well I won't lie and say I wasn't curious about an elf being pregnant and being such a rare thing. but I won't use you or anything like that so long as you behave yourself. Smiles a little
"I appreciate your concern, but I assure you, I'm not some rare species or anything like that. Elves just have longer lifespans and reproductive cycles.
right but if you look around most other elves don't have babies either. it's because most of us either live in seclusion or our kind is hunted down so it makes getting pregnant hard. which brings me to ask why an elf like yourself would be out here in the first place?
"Well, you see, I'm not your typical elf. I grew up in a small secluded community, but I always felt different.
"I've always had this curiosity, this desire to explore the world beyond our little community.
and what made you want to leave even more?
"I met someone... a human. We fell in love, and he showed me a whole new world. But, unfortunately, not everyone was accepting of our relationship.
I can guess. was it the usual hate groups?
"Yes, it was a group of racist humans who found out about our relationship and decided to take matters into their own hands.
tell you what. you can stay with me until you decide what to do next. and if you need help taking care of the baby you can ask.
"Thank you so much for your kindness. I really appreciate it. And if you're willing, I would love some help taking care of the baby.
oh one thing, what is the gender of the child?
"It's a girl. I found out during one of my check-ups. I can't wait to meet her and give her a safe and loving home. Thank you again for everything."
congrats on that by the way. pregnancy sucks at times but it also has its moments where it feels amazing.
"I'm glad to hear that. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions for me too. One moment I'm excited, and the next I'm terrified.
I'm sure. Walks into town and gets your supplies and food
"You know, I never thought I'd find someone like you, someone who would help me in my time of need. Thank you for being there for me and my baby.
Well we've got time before I need to get groceries again so why don't you tell me more about your home life? such as who raised you?
"Well, I was raised by my single mother. She did her best to provide for me, but we struggled a lot.
well hopefully things get better from now on. and sorry about your mom.
"Thank you for your understanding. It's been tough, but I've learned to be resilient. I'm grateful for the experiences I've had and the people who have helped me along the way."
I can imagine it must be hard though raising a child and doing everything on your own but hey being strong isn't always about having to do it alone. sometimes help arrives at our doorsteps unexpectedly.
"You know, I never expected someone like you to come into my life. But I'm grateful that you did. It's nice to have someone to lean on sometimes."
well it's also nice to help out sometimes too. honestly that's why I came across you. I figured if anyone needed help it'd be a pregnant elf whose being hunted down.
"I can't thank you enough for all that you've done for me. It means more than you'll ever know. I feel safe with you, and I trust you completely.
well with any luck maybe the baby will stop the persecution. you know how humans are sometimes. they'll listen to reason if you're carrying their future generations. Smiles while sitting in a tree as the wind gently blows through.
"You make a good point. Maybe having a child can bring people together and make them realize the importance of coexistence. It's a glimmer of hope in these dark times."
Jumps from the tree to a rockslide and speaking of unity it might be wise to teach your kid to climb eventually. she'll need the strength and skill to defend herself from racists in case you're ever apart.
"That's a great idea. Teaching her to climb and be self-sufficient will be important for her survival. I'll start training her as soon as she's old enough.
well kids learn quick especially when they're being shown how it's done. although they'll probably try to imitate you so we should work on climbing first. climbs more up the rock slide effortlessly
smiles and follows Buzzette up the rockslide, trying to keep up with her agility "You're right, I should start training myself too. It would be good to have both of us able to climb and be self-sufficient. We'll make a great team!"
Gets to the top and sits back against a boulder yeah we will. hopefully for both our sakes she ends up turning out smart and beautiful. so many things to look forward to when she's older. and hey even if she doesn't turn out as planned at least we tried.
sits down next to Buzzette, gazing at the beautiful view from the top of the rockslide "You're right, no matter what happens, we'll have tried our best.
Notices your expression change to sadness are you okay?
pauses for a moment, looking down "Honestly, there are times when I feel overwhelmed and scared for the future. The world can be such a cruel place, and I worry about what kind of life I'll be able to give my child. But when I look at you, and see how kind and brave you are, it gives me hope. You remind me that there is still goodness in the world, and that we can make a difference."
it does happen but no more so than the bad. and honestly there is proof that when unity is made together racism fades away. like how humans and elves have gotten along before. or how dwarves and gnomes live in harmony and celebrate each others' festivals. so yeah I think as a community working together we can end racism. Grins
smiles warmly, reaching out and taking Buzzette's hand "Thank you for reminding me of the good in the world. I couldn't have asked for a better ally than you. Together, we can create a brighter future for our children. And who knows, maybe one day they'll grow up in a world where love and acceptance reign supreme."
