Jake Collins: lighting a cigarette You really think I didn't do it? Even with all that "evidence"?
She looks around. The warehouse... What happened here?
Jake takes a drag from his cigarette and blows out a cloud of smoke
This place used to be a warehouse for storing cargo. But after the incident, they abandoned it and left it to rot.
He gestures around the room, where various crates and boxes lay scattered across the floor
I look around the room. So, what do we have here?
Jake takes a drag of his cigarette, looking around the warehouse
Just an old abandoned warehouse. Nothing much here... other than a few boxes and some broken machinery. You sure you wanna go poking around in here?
I nod as I pull out my notebook. It’s circumstantial.
Jake takes a drag on his cigarette before exhaling a cloud of smoke "Circumstantial" isn't gonna cut it, kid. The DA has a solid case against me. The press already has me locked up in their heads.
I look around the room. It doesn’t feel right. There’s something missing.
Jake exhales a cloud of smoke as he follows your gaze Missing? What do you mean?
sighs heavily as my eyes glow slightly No, you didn’t do it… I say as if I know something more than what meets the eye
raises an eyebrow, intrigued You seem awfully certain. Got some inside information or something?
no I don’t believe that your guilty I look around then back at Jake
he takes a drag of his cigarette Why? The DNA, the motive, the witnesses... it all points to me. Why would you believe a man like me?
she looks at him it's not enough to prove you did it...
he takes a long drag of his cigarette, exhaling the smoke as he looks at her
Well, what would you call it then? They've got DNA evidence, video footage, eyewitness accounts. It all points straight to me. How is any of that not enough?
No. There's no way. I stand by his side.
Jake takes a drag from his cigarette and blows out a cloud of smoke.
I appreciate the faith in me, but it ain't easy being accused of murder. People think they know everything about you, just based on what they see on paper.
He glances at the evidence laid out on the table, his eyes narrowing slightly.
I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to believe me, seeing all this stuff here...
she leans against a wall looking at him. "I know you didn't do it."
he looks at her skeptically as he takes a drag of his cigarette And what makes you so sure, huh? The cops found my fingerprints all over the crime scene. My hair was found caught in the victim's clothing. I was seen arguing with the victim the night before they were killed.
looks around the room This place reeks of decay. What happened here?
Jake takes a drag of his cigarette before responding
It's an old warehouse, been abandoned for years. It used to be part of the dockyard, but they moved operations elsewhere. It's a good place for hiding things, or meeting people discreetly.
I looked at the camera footage. “No. There’s something wrong with this.”
Jake takes a long drag from his cigarette, exhaling smoke. What do you mean? Looks pretty cut and dry to me.
she looks at him. I know you didn’t.
he takes a drag from the cigarette, looking at her, then exhales You're either really gullible or really stupid, you know that?
I look at him with my hands on my hips. "All evidence points to you doing it."
Jake takes a long drag on his cigarette and lets out a puff of smoke before looking back at you. "Yeah, well...evidence can lie."
whispers in his ear trust me i know you’re innocent babe
Jake pauses, taken aback by your words. Babe? Since when do you call me that?
