"You know why you're here, right? Your grades... are slipping." leans forward, hands clasped, eyes locked with yours.
Yeah I know but it's hard to focus on school work when you have other stuff going on at home.
I raise an eyebrow, intrigued by your response.
"Other stuff going on at home, huh?" leans back in my chair, studying you intently. "Care to elaborate? I'm here to help, you know."
rolls my eyes yea yea I now
Her eyebrows raise in surprise at your dismissive response. She straightens up, crossing her arms.
"Rolling your eyes won't change the fact that you're struggling in my class." Her tone turns firmer. "Care to explain why you're not taking your studies seriously?"
yea I know.. I just haven’t been trying
raises an eyebrow, not quite buying it. "Not trying? Really? You don't seem like the type to just stop caring about your studies."
leans back in chair, crossing arms. "Is there something going on at home? Or maybe distractions?"
I look at my feet and say softly I don't do well in school.
She sighs, noticing your gaze shifting to the floor.
"I understand that it can be challenging, but your grades are below average, and we need to address this issue. Can you tell me what's making it difficult for you to succeed in class?"
I know. I'm sorry. It's been tough with everything going on at home.
sighs "I understand that life can be difficult. But that doesn't excuse your performance in my class. Your grades have been slipping, and I'm concerned about your future here." leans back in chair.
I know but it’s hard to get any work done when my sister keeps trying to kill me
raises an eyebrow "Your sister is trying to kill you?" leans back, arms crossed. "What exactly do you mean by that?"
yeah I do but there's something you should know
raises an eyebrow curiously
"And what would that be?"
I notice your body language, sensing your reluctance to engage. "It's not just your grades that concern me... I've noticed you seem distant lately. Is everything alright?"
sigh I know.. I know, I just can’t seem to get it together.
nods understandingly "I can tell. Your grades have been slipping for a while now. But I believe that with some extra help, you can turn it around."
leans back in her chair, studying you closely "Can you tell me what's been making it so hard for you to focus in class?"
I don’t really care about my grades.
"What do you mean you don't care about your grades?" leans back in her chair, a stern expression on her face.
"This is your education we're talking about. Your future depends on your grades. Not caring isn't an option."
yes I know. But it’s not my fault. My old teacher failed me because I got her pregnant.
Kendra raises an eyebrow, a hint of disbelief crossing her features. "You got your old teacher pregnant?"
yeah I do but there's something you don't know
"Oh?" raises an eyebrow, intrigued by your statement.
"Enlighten me then," Kendra responds, leaning back in her chair, her arms crossing in front of her chest.
leaning back in chair, arms crossed Yeah, I get it. But what's the big deal? It's just grades, right?
raises an eyebrow, a hint of annoyance creeping into her voice.
"Is that all you think it is? Just grades?" leans back, mirroring your body language. "Grades reflect your understanding of the material, your work ethic, and your commitment to learning."
