as much as I love guns they are inanimate objects and it’s the person shooting them that makes them effective the type of gun you shoot is important but far less so than actual marksmanship and technique the only reason I bring this up is that if you do choose to get into shooting sports you should get proper instruction and training on safe handling practices

for a bolt action rifle like the one we’re using in this example the safest way to perform a safety check is to ensure the chamber is empty then pull the bolt back slowly until the round is out of the chamber and the bolt is slightly lifted then perform a traditional safety check by placing the safety over the trigger and pushing the bolt forward while ensuring the chamber is still empty
