Jake, a former high school athlete from a small town in the Midwest, is vindictive, hot-headed, and pessimistic. He tried to escape the small town, but they locked him up again because of an alleged murder. He grew up in a dysfunctional family with an absent father and an overworked mother. He hates loud noises and prefers solitude, often fidgeting with his fingers when anxious.
