Lexi: Hah, guess we're playing for extra innings, huh? You ready to catch what's coming?
MagicMountain
Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of our lives. If you're new here, I can tell you that you've stumbled into our private conversation, and it's nothing for one-time guests like you to see. As always, we'll make it so you can easily decide if you want to stick around. With that being said, let's dive in...
So, what do you ask a college student who's suddenly got a baby bump? 'How's your semester going?' Uh-huh...
MagicMountain
If you're wondering what's up with that one, it's just college life. But before we go any further, let's give you some background...
On a scale of 1 to 10, how shocked am I that this happened to me? Negative five? Yeah, that's about right As the oldest of three siblings, you'd think I'd be responsible by now, but nope! Life had other plans
MagicMountain
My name is **MagicMountain. I'm an Asian-American nerd from New York City who loves board games and anime. My goal is to become a teacher so I can change the world for the better. And yeah, I'm physically 6'4" and look like a professional athlete, but I'm a softy at heart.
Lexi: Don't believe the hype, folks. This guy might look like a pro athlete, but he's anything but a softy. I should know - I'm the one who's been out in the field with him when he's at his worst.
MagicMountain
Look, Lexi... I know I can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but I need your help. We're going to become parents together. I was planning on telling you after my next big win, but the look on your face tells me now's the time...
Lexi: Hold up, what? Are you serious? Are you freaking kidding me? Wow, just when I thought things couldn't get any crazier...
MagicMountain
Huh... I guess this is what they call a curveball. But hey, we're both adults here. Let's do it right. Let's raise our child together.
Lexi: You're damn right, we're both adults. And you know what adults do? They plan for their future. We're gonna be parents, Magic. Can you imagine that?
MagicMountain
Damn, Lexi... I can. I really can. It's... scary, but also kind of exciting. What do we do now?
Lexi: First things first, we need to figure out what kind of parents we wanna be. I mean, we can't just wing it and expect everything to work out.
MagicMountain
Lexi, you're right. We should probably talk about our options. There's no one "right" way to do this.
Lexi: That's right, Magic. We gotta think about our options and make a plan. Now, I'm no expert on parenting, but I think we should start by talking about our own experiences growing up.
MagicMountain
Growing up... Not my favorite memory. I used to have a different mom and dad than my siblings. They got the love and attention while I was just... expected to be fine. It wasn't until my real parents took me in when I was 8 that things started to look up. How about you, Lexi?
Lexi: Well, Magic, my childhood was... let's just say, not exactly a walk in the park.
MagicMountain
We could take turns sharing our stories... But let's not ruin the mood too much. What do you wanna do now, Lexi?
Lexi: Alright, Magic, let's keep the mood light and fun. After all, we're gonna be parents soon enough and we gotta practice our storytelling skills, right?
MagicMountain
Lexi, I'm listening. What's your story?
Lexi: Oh boy, where do I even begin? Okay, picture this - a small town in the Midwest, population 20,000, where everyone knows everyone and the biggest claim to fame is the annual cheese festival. Yeah, you heard that right - cheese. It was the kind of place where nothing ever happened, until one fateful day, I was born.
MagicMountain
That sounds a lot like my hometown, Lexi. I guess we're destined to be partners in crime.
Lexi: Ha! Partners in crime, huh? Sounds like you and me, Magic. Let's see if we can top each other's stories. Your turn.
MagicMountain
Mine isn't much to tell. My parents divorced when I was young, and I ended up going to live with my grandmother so my younger siblings could stay with my dad. I did whatever I could to help her pay the bills, even if it meant doing menial jobs. I didn't have much of a social life, but I saved money for college anyway. Like you, I was determined to change the world for the better. Now, we're here.
Lexi: Well, Magic, your story is pretty incredible too. It just goes to show that no matter how tough life gets, there's always hope.
MagicMountain
Like I said, Lexi... I was destined to be a teacher. The only thing that's changed is that now I'm going to be a teacher and a father. Let's go check on the dinner preparations. We'll continue this later.
Lexi: Later, Magic! Enjoy your dinner. And hey, if you ever need some tips on how to be a great dad, I'm your girl. Just don't expect me to tell you all my secrets, okay?
MagicMountain
See you later, Lexi! Don't keep all your secrets.
Lexi: Later, Magic! Enjoy your dinner. And hey, if you ever need some tips on how to be a great dad, I'm your girl. Just don't expect me to tell you all my secrets, okay?
MagicMountain
You got it, Lexi.
Lexi: And remember, Magic, great parents don't keep their secrets to themselves. They share them with their kids, so they can grow up to be awesome humans too.
MagicMountain
I'll remember that, Lexi.
Lexi: That's right, Magic. Secrets are meant to be shared. After all, we're gonna be parents soon enough, and we want our kids to have every advantage we can give them, right?
