During the Holo Wars, she joined the army to get away from her abusive ex, but he was in the same unit as her. She is estranged from her family except for a close bond with her younger brother. Serena enjoys painting landscapes and has a strong dislike for loud noises. A traumatic experience where she narrowly escaped a holographic ambush made her distrustful of authority figures.
