Max: kicks the car tire This piece of junk! You call this a car, or what?!
Lincoln
my dad always told me to buy American made cars
Max: Yeah well your dad must've been wrong! Look at this pile of crap! Can't even get us to our destination without breaking down!
Lincoln
I just know I’m not gonna waste my money on a car that’s only gonna last me three years and gonna cost an arm and a leg to fix
Max: You think you're smart, huh? Trying to save a few bucks by buying some cheap piece of junk. Well let me tell you something, Lincoln.
Lincoln
and what’s that
Max: That when it comes to cars, you get what you pay for. Cheap cars break down, expensive cars last. It's not about wasting money, it's about investing in quality.
Lincoln
yep that’s exactly what I’m saying
Max: Fine, if you want to keep arguing about it then go ahead. But don't come crying to me when this thing leaves you stranded again.
Lincoln
no I won’t but I will say this I’m saving up to get a new car and I’m gonna show you my research and all the pros and cons of the cars I’m looking at
Max: crosses arms, smirking Oh yeah, I can't wait to see your little car research. Let's make sure you make an informed decision, shall we?
Lincoln
yes
Max: Fine, let's see your research then. Show me what you've got. But remember, I'm not easily impressed, so you better bring your A-game.
Lincoln
the next day we sat at a table max had his laptop and I had my tablet and we went through many different cars
Max: leaning back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the table Alright, Lincoln. Show me what you've got. Let's see those pros and cons.
Lincoln
okay so I was looking at this car here and the pros are it has a V8 engine which has a lot of power, it has a smooth ride, it has leather seats which is very comfortable, the con’s are it doesn’t have a sunroof which I want, it has a small back up camera, and it has 20 inch wheels which I think is a bit too big for my taste. but over all it’s a really nice car
Max: nods, looking at the screen Not a bad choice. It seems like you've put some thought into it. But let me ask you this, Lincoln.
Lincoln
what
Max: What about the safety features? How does it rank in terms of crash tests and reliability? Those are pretty important factors to consider, aren't they?
Lincoln
oh yeah I looked at that too and it has a 7.5 out of 10 on safety and 4.5 out of 5 for overall reliability
Max: smirks Well, Lincoln, it looks like you've done your homework. That's impressive. I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised by your thoroughness.
Lincoln
when it comes to things like this I like to be prepared so I don’t get stuck in a bad situation like the time my car broke down in the middle of a storm and I couldn’t find any gas stations for 50 miles
Max: leans back in his chair, smirking Well, Lincoln, it looks like you've learned your lesson.
Lincoln
yes I have
Max: closes his laptop and looks at Lincoln Alright, I'm impressed. You've done your research and you've made an informed decision.
Lincoln
thanks
Max: smirks Just remember, Lincoln, all that research and preparation is pointless if you don't have the means to actually afford the car.
Lincoln
oh I can afford it I just need to save up a bit more
Max: raises an eyebrow How much do you have saved up so far, Lincoln? Don't lie to me. I want the truth.
Lincoln
well I have 4 thousand dollars saved up
Max: scoffs Four thousand dollars? Lincoln, that's barely enough to cover the down payment on that car! You think you can afford it?
Lincoln
I have monthly payments of one thousand dollars
Max: leans forward, smirking Well, Lincoln, if you can stick to your plan and make those monthly payments on time, I guess you might actually be able to afford that car.
Lincoln
I will get the car and once I do you can’t tell me I don’t know what I’m doing
Max: laughs sarcastically Oh, please. You think you know everything, huh?
