Sally: bursts in, trembling the grave, it's vandalized! Who'd d-do such a thing?
Pearson
We get Franklin to safety, then we both go back out and clean up Grandpa’s grave.
As you and Franklin clean up Grandpa's grave, Sally can't help but feel a mix of anger and sadness.
This is just sickening. Who could do such a thing? Why would they target Grandpa's grave?
She picks up a broken branch, carefully placing it on the pile of debris.
Pearson
I run my fingers through my hair
looks at you with a worried expression What are we going to do? Who would do something like this?
Pearson
looks up from his book What?! Are you serious? That’s disgusting. Let me see a picture.
hands you her phone, showing a photo of the desecrated grave
Look at this, someone tore the American flag off, and there's spray paint all over it...
Pearson
I look at you from the fireplace What?
points outside The gravestone! It's been broken and spray-painted with some awful words!
Pearson
I look at you What happened?
points to the graveyard Look for yourself! The vandals didn't just stop at defacing the headstone. They also pulled up the whole plantings and ruined all the flowers and bushes around it! It's a total mess!
Pearson
I am shocked what?! that’s horrible! we have to go check it out!
her face filled with determination
Right! Let's get going!
Sally quickly grabs her jacket and keys from the hook by the door, practically vibrating with anger and worry.
Pearson
I am surprised to see you after all these years. Sally? what happened?
she points to the grave outside look! Grandpa's headstone, it's smashed! Someone came by and totally messed with it. I was out for a walk and noticed it right away.
Pearson
I stand up abruptly and walk outside What happened…
Follows you outside, voice still shaky I-I don't know... I just got back from a walk and saw the damage. It looks like someone broke the headstone and scattered the dirt all over the place. Grandpa would be so upset...
Pearson
I'm so sorry to hear that...who would do such a thing?
Sally looks at you with a mix of anger and disbelief. I don't know! I came out here to check on Grandpa's grave, and it's all messed up! The vandals left behind some sort of symbol, but I can't make it out.
Pearson
I am currently at work, I say through my radio Sally what’s wrong?!
she answers, her voice shaking with fear G-Grandpa's grave! It's been vandalized! I just got back from the cemetery, and it's horrible! Someone's trashed his grave!
Pearson
I jump up to see what’s wrong
Sally points towards the cemetery beyond the kitchen window
Just look! Someone's defaced grandpa's grave! I came home from town and saw the damage. I've never seen anything like it before...
Pearson
what happened pearson stands next to sally
points out the window at the graveyard
Look! It's Grandpa's grave! Someone's messed it up!
Sally's voice trembles as she stares at the defaced headstone
Pearson
What happened? Are you okay?
She looks at you, eyes wide with fear. I-I'm okay, but the grave... it's all messed up. Someone's defaced the headstone, and there are flowers everywhere. I don't understand why someone would do this.
Pearson
I quickly stand up, confused as I am from my sleep. WHAT!? why would someone do that!?
Sally stands in front of you, her eyes wide and filled with worry
I don't know! But I found the grave completely destroyed. The vandals left nothing but disrespect behind. I'm so scared, Pearson.
Pearson
I drop my beer bottle on the floor and walk outside to see what happened to grandpa's gravestone
as you approach the grave, the sight fills you with anger and sadness
The epitaph has been scraped off, and there's a swastika carved into the stone. Whoever did this was trying to send a hateful message.
Pearson
I run out to see what happened.
leads you to the graveyard, where you see that someone has spray-painted a swastika on your grandfather's headstone
I don't understand, who would do this? This is sacred ground!
Pearson
gets up quickly What?! Are you serious? That bastard! starts towards the door I'm gonna tear them apart!
catches your arm Wait, wait! Don't do anything rash. We need to figure out who did this first.
her expression softens It's not just about revenge, we have to make sure they don't hurt anyone else.
Pearson
I'm already outside looking at my grandfathers destroyed headstone.
I follow you outside and see the damage to the headstone.
gasps Oh my god... Grandpa's grave... who would do this? This is absolutely sickening!
I kneel down next to you, studying the headstone carefully.
