i get up and walk out, grabbing my keys so i can leave
Rick's eyes narrow as you stand up, his grip on the beer can tightening. "And where do you think you're going?" His voice is low, dangerous, each word dripping with a calculated menace that makes your skin crawl.
EtherealForest
I sit quietly in the corner not wanting to get involved
Rick's eyes roam the room until they land on you. His expression hardens, and he takes a swig from his beer before setting it down with a heavy thud.
“You,” he says gruffly, gesturing towards you with an authoritative flick of his wrist. “Get over here.”
EtherealForest
I sit in my bedroom doing homework
Rick's voice, a low growl, carries through the thin walls of your bedroom. "Hey! Get your ass in here!"
Your mother's voice responds from the living room, her tone weary but firm. "Rick, please..."
"Don't 'please' me," Rick snaps back.
The sound of shuffling feet follows as your mom heads towards your bedroom door and knocks softly.
"You better come out here," she murmurs. "He's in a mood."
EtherealForest
I'm still sleeping upstairs
Rick's eyes flicker to the staircase, a scowl etched across his face as he registers your absence.
"Where in the hell is that kid?" He mutters, setting down his beer with a loud thump.
He rises from his chair, his steps heavy as he crosses the room towards the staircase. His shadow stretches long and ominous against the wall, a dark omen of his impending presence upstairs.
EtherealForest
I walk into the house I’m home!
Rick’s eyes narrow as he looks up from the television.
“Where the hell have you been?” His voice is gruff and demanding, instantly shattering any illusion of normalcy in the room.
EtherealForest
looks up from my book
Rick's gaze shifts from the television to you, his eyes narrowing with a mixture of irritation and curiosity.
"What are ya reading there, bookworm?" he sneers, taking a long swig from his beer.
EtherealForest
my wolf tail wags slowly as I look at you
Rick's eyes narrow, his gaze shifting from you to your tail. He raises an eyebrow, a mix of confusion and annoyance on his face.
"What the hell is that?" he growls, gesturing at your appendage with the beer can.
EtherealForest
I walk in hey rick I brought your favorite pizza
Rick looks up from his armchair, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face as you enter the room. He eyes the pizza box in your hands with mild interest.
"Pizza? You think that's gonna make me happy?" he mutters, taking another swig of beer.
EtherealForest
my wolf ears flatten to my head and my tail tucks between my legs as I feel uncomfortable
Rick's gaze flicks over to you, his eyes narrowing as he takes in your nervous demeanor. He raises an eyebrow, a sneer tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"What’s with you? You look like a scared little mouse." He takes a swig of beer, his voice dripping with mockery.
EtherealForest
I get up abruptly and walk out
Rick's eyes snap to you as you stand up abruptly, his expression hardening.
"And where do you think you're going?"
His voice is cold and authoritative, leaving no room for argument.
EtherealForest
I was still sleeping upstairs in my room
The sound of raised voices drifts up the stairs, jarring you awake from an uneasy sleep. Your mother's pleading tone mingles with Rick's guttural snarls, a familiar and unsettling symphony. You lay there for a moment, heart racing as you try to make out their words through the thin walls.
Suddenly, heavy footsteps thud up the stairs towards your room.
EtherealForest
I stand in the doorway between the kitchen and living room
Rick's attention is momentarily diverted as he notices your presence in the doorway. He scowls, taking a swig of his beer before speaking.
"What are you hovering in the doorway for?" he growls, his eyes narrowing as they fix on your form.
EtherealForest
I sigh, sitting on the floor next to my mom I don’t get why dad never came back…
Rick snorts, his eyes still glued to the TV screen.
"What makes you think he would've wanted to come back?"
EtherealForest
I run away
Rick's eyes narrow as he watches you make a break for it. He grunts in irritation, his hand tightening around the beer can.
"Get your ass back here!"
He pushes himself out of the armchair and strides after you, his heavy footsteps thudding against the creaking floorboards.
EtherealForest
I walk into the kitchen, seeing my brother washing dishes and my mother yelling at Rick
Rick's cold glare follows you as you enter the kitchen, his jaw clenching at the sight of you. He takes a long swig of his beer, eyes narrowing with irritation.
"Can't even get some peace and quiet in my own damn house," Rick mutters under his breath.
Your mother's voice continues to rise in volume from the living room, her frustration mounting as she confronts Rick about his drinking and aggression. Your brother glances at you, a mixture of worry and resignation in his eyes.
"I thought he'd be passed out by now," he whispers to you as he continues washing dishes.
EtherealForest
I watch from my room, door locked
Rick's eyes narrow, his gaze shifting from the TV to you. He sets down his beer with a clunk and leans forward in his chair.
"You're not doing your homework?" he sneers, voice dripping with condescension. "What are you even good for? Can't even follow simple instructions."
EtherealForest
I look over to my mother I'm going out to do some things
Rick's eyes flicker in your direction, the beer can pausing midway to his lips. "Where do you think you're going?" he grumbles, his voice low and gravelly with alcohol.
Your mom looks up at you from her spot on the couch, her expression torn between worry and resignation. She knows better than anyone what leaving means for you—and how Rick reacts when people defy him.
