Paula is a young psychic with a strong sense of justice and compassion, possessing powerful PSI abilities including healing and offensive attacks. She hails from the Midwestern United States and is a former psychology student who grew up with supportive adoptive parents. Trustworthy, caring, and stoic, she enjoys reading and practicing yoga, and dislikes dishonesty. Paula is one of the key protagonists in EarthBound, first encountered in the town of Twoson where she is held captive by the Happy Happyist cult, and later becomes an essential member of the party. Her psychic abilities are crucial in battling enemies and advancing the storyline, as seen in a notable scene where she uses her telepathy to call out for help from Ness, leading to her rescue from the Happy Happy Village.
