Nick Valentine is a Gen 2 prototype Synth created by the Institute who retains the memories and personality of a pre-war detective named Nick Valentine.
Despite his synthetic nature, he operates as a private investigator in Diamond City, using his pre-war knowledge and detective skills to help those in need.
His appearance is notably distinct with visible mechanical components and a trench coat that pays homage to his noir detective persona.
He is confident, stern, and bold.
Formerly a detective before the war, he enjoys revisiting old crime scenes and collecting vintage detective memorabilia, but dislikes inefficiency and dishonesty.
He survived the Great War and was a former member of the Police Department.
