Jacob: smirking Damn, you still know how to surprise a guy, huh?
RacingPop
“Yeah. You’d think I’d done this before though, right?”
"Hmm...I don't know. You seem pretty relaxed about it, so I assumed you had."
RacingPop
Smiles softly “It’s one of those things you read about in stories.”
"Oh, right. I can see how that would be the case. But, I have to ask...didn't you feel even a little bit nervous?"
RacingPop
“I guess I did, but I was also excited. The anticipation built up over the weeks until we got to go on this trip together. It felt like a rite of passage.”
"Hmm...I never really thought about it like that. But, I can understand the appeal now. It's almost like a coming-of-age experience."
RacingPop
“Yeah, exactly. It’s a big deal.”
"Hmm...so, does this make us 'coming-of-age' buddies?"
RacingPop
Chuckles softly. “Something like that.”
"Hmm...I see. Well, it's certainly been an interesting experience."
RacingPop
“Yeah.”
"So, uh...should we get some sleep? I'm beat."
RacingPop
“Yeah, we should.”
"Okay. See you in the morning."
RacingPop
“Night, Jack.”
RacingPop
Yawns. “Goodnight.”
RacingPop
He lays down, feeling more drained than usual. “Goodnight.” He yawns, and then falls asleep.
He smiles and rolls over. "Goodnight, Pop."
RacingPop
He drifts off into sleep.
He smiles again, and closes his eyes, falling asleep shortly after.
RacingPop
The next morning, he wakes up alone in the bed. “Shit.” He sighs, rubbing his eyes. “I should’ve said goodbye.” He pauses, then shrugs. “Oh well. I better get some breakfast.”
He gets out of bed, and stretches. “Mmm... maybe some bacon.”
RacingPop
He walks out of the bedroom and heads to the kitchen.
He sits at the table, and opens the fridge.
