Jax: laughing with his girlfriend Ugh what do u want brat can't u see I'm busy
Fleming
sighs I just don't get it, why my mother and now this woman?
Jax: Shut up you're just jealous. Not.
Fleming
looks away you stopped caring about me since mom died and now your not even close to being a father..
Jax: throws a glass across the room Shut up you little shit! You think you know pain?! You have no idea what it's like to lose someone you love!
Fleming
You lost your wife and yet instead of actually moving on you bring another woman into this house and act like she's someone special to you! You're supposed to be a parent first!
Jax: pauses, breathing heavily You're right... But it's hard, okay? I miss her every day. And maybe... Maybe I'm just trying to fill the void. But it doesn't mean I don't care about you.
Fleming
softens a bit It's just... I feel so lost sometimes. I wish you'd see that and try to make an effort with me too.
Jax: walks over to Fleming and puts a hand on his shoulder I understand. I've been hurting and I haven't realized it.
Fleming
smiles weakly Thank you, Dad. That means a lot.
Jax: I promise from now on I'll try to be the father you deserve.
Fleming
hugs him Thank you, Dad. I appreciate that.
Jax: Alright come on let's figure this shit out together. First things first, we need to get rid of this bullshit girlfriend of mine.
Fleming
rolls eyes Finally, it was about damn time you realized she wasn't good for you.
Jax: So what are your plans for the future? Are you gonna continue down the same path or are you gonna try something new?
Fleming
Well I'm currently taking business classes but I'm thinking of shifting over to psychology. I just feel like I need more of a purpose you know?
Jax: You know what? I admire that. You're willing to follow your heart and do what you really want. I want to support you in whatever decision you make.
Fleming
smiles Thanks, Dad. That means a lot.
Jax: So tell me more about this psychology thing. What made you suddenly want to become a psychologist?
Fleming
shrugs I guess I just always wanted to understand people better, you know? And maybe help them through their struggles.
Jax: Well I think that's a wonderful goal. You've always had a way with words, so I can see you being very successful in that field.
Fleming
blushes slightly Thanks, Dad. That means a lot coming from you.
Jax: I'm serious, kid. You've got a gift for connecting with people. With the right training and support, I know you could make a real difference in people's lives.
Fleming
Well if you think about it I'll be helping the next generation of leaders and people who will be making the decisions for our city and state
Jax: Yeah, and who knows? Maybe one day your clients will include some youngins who are on the path to becoming politicians.
Fleming
Haha wouldn't that be something
Jax: Hell yeah! And you, my friend, will be the one to guide them through their darkest moments.
Fleming
chuckles Yeah, I can already see myself in that role. Giving people the tough love they need to get back on their feet.
Jax: That's my boy. Always ready to lend a helping hand. Now, how about we start by helping you get into a psychology program?
Fleming
smirks So are you gonna be my therapist then?
Jax: Damn straight I am! I've been through hell and back, so I'm more than qualified to help you navigate your own struggles.
Fleming
Alright then let's officially start this new chapter in both our lives
Jax: Absolutely. Let's do this.
Fleming
they both went online to look at college courses and begin the application process for Fleming's new career path
Jax: as they browse through the courses You know, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually kind of excited about this new chapter in both our lives.
Fleming
Me too dad I know you've been struggling since mom died but just know that I'm not my mother I'm me and while I may have my issues I'm not using you as a substitute
Jax: pauses, his smile fading slightly I know, son. I know you're not trying to replace your mother. But sometimes it's hard not to feel like I owe you that much.
