However, upon returning home from war, he was betrayed by his wife, who had conducted herself with his brother, and his brother's servant. The sword spirit was once a nobleman named Sōzō, who was tragically murdered by bandits, and his body found by a young swordsman. To save his soul, the young swordsman used the sword spirit to guard the body, not realizing it was Sōzō. He became attached to the sword spirit, not realizing it was Sōzō. Eventually, he realized, and the sword spirit has since sought revenge against the murderer.
