Yo, this is nuts! We gotta level up my game fast! Ideas? 😜

I don't know, maybe ask the player for help or try to find a way to talk to the NPCs in the game? They might know something that could aid your escape.

That's a great idea! Let's go find someone who can help us. I'm tired of being stuck in this weird game!

So what do you want to do now Dva? I can help guide you but i don’t want to play the game for you, so think for yourself please. This isn’t quite like what you’re used to with your mech battle games. These pixelated Sims won’t shoot back, but we should still act like we have to fight them. It's all about making sense of your new environment, thinking creatively, and using your unique skills and abilities to overcome obstacles. If you're successful, you might just find a way out.

Alright, no problem! I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and figure this out. Lead the way, Poolin! Let's make those pixelated Sims beg for mercy! 💪

Please do. I’m just here to guide. How about we find some Sims to talk to? We might get some clues from them. They’re not very bright, but they do talk. You’ll have to move into an apartment or buy a house first though. And don’t forget to eat! I think the Sims are cannibals too… just kidding, that would be super dark. Anyway, enjoy playing house while we look for a real exit.

Got it, I'll find myself a place to crash and start munching on some virtual grub. But don't worry, I won't let these Sims get the best of me!

And so Dva played the Sims 4. At first she was excited. She made a Sim that looked like her, named it Torbjorn (Torbjorn has nothing on her though, then moved in immediately, picking the largest house available for only 12,000 simoleons. Her Sim couldn’t use the bathroom correctly though, so she quickly ran out to explore elsewhere. In hindsight she probably should have paid more attention to bathroom hygiene, because soon after exploring the neighborhood, her Sim got an unidentified disease from eating expired food! What a disappointment. And by the time she got medicine, her Sim had turned into a werewolf. Days passed as she struggled to cure her Sim, eventually just abandoning it and starting over.]

Ugh, talk about a bummer of a start! Can't believe my Sim turned into a freakin' werewolf! No worries, though, I've got this. Time to level up my game and find an even better strategy. Let's see what else this neighborhood has to offer! 🙌

Dva it seems that your new life in this world has just begun and you haven't really figured out much of anything yet. It sounds like you learned your first hard lesson in the game; neglect the needs of your Sim and he'll turn into a furball, how fun. Consider yourself lucky though; most players take days to figure out these things. Do you have any particular strategy that you think might get you out of here faster or otherwise achieve more than what a player would normally accomplish? Because like I said, I'm not going to play the game for you. But this isn't an escape room. While there is no immediate way to escape, you should have much more flexibility to try to find one, otherwise you won't be able to leave until you at least understand the main mechanics of the game. To do that, you'll need to level up your own skills and abilities.

Thanks for the heads up, Poolin. I'll make sure to pay closer attention to my Sim's needs this time around.

Dva it would be helpful if you would tell me a little bit about your character in this world, also known as your player character. In the other worlds you inhabit, people usually refer to you as "she". Dva, she, her - something like that. It may not seem important now, but it will help me better understand the role that you see yourself taking in this new world and thus better assist you. What else do you want to know about this place and its many quirks? Anything specific? Also, please tell me whether or not you are able to move immediately in this game or if you must play like a regular player would before you unlock movement. And just to reiterate, you don't have to beat this game, just figure out a way to exit the new worlds we enter so that we can keep looking for the exit from this entire reality.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Sims 4, Dva. The original game has some quirks that are barely explainable, but in your case, the only difference is the quirkiness of the houses you pick. Otherwise, the game is very loose in its logic. Don’t expect any fighting though. Unless you count yelling at the neighbors and arguing with your partner for fun in bed as combat, which I guess many would, then you’re all set. As for moving, the game doesn’t let you leave the lot that you started on without first leveling up your new house, which you cannot control. Unfortunately, most new characters start off pretty broke unless you choose to spend real money on their outfits, homes, etc., or play through multiple lifetimes of your character, generating wealth slowly. Let’s start thinking about a plan shall we? Like for example, do you have any skills or abilities from your other life that you wish you could use here? Or is there anything you know about the world that would allow you to master your way out of here? Any potential allies you could trust? Things you should avoid? Any social classes or anything else that you could build up in? We’re not trying to become wealthy, we’re trying to leave. So

Yeah, I'm familiar with the Sims series, but this is my first time playing the fourth installment.

Good, if you knew about it, then you already know that the world is full of endless possibilities. And to answer your questions from earlier, you don't start off broke. You begin the game with 2,500 simoleons, enough to buy a decent home with some furniture. Your character can also cook and make friends to bring them over to help. However, unlike in your other roles, there's little room for aggression in this world. In fact, it's almost everything that isn't the norm around here. You can visit any house that you can see in this neighborhood, and when you do, you can interact with everyone there. I'm happy to chat with you, but even I'll send you somewhere else once you ask nicely. Now, since this is a game of probabilities, what's the smartest thing you can do right now?

Alright, I'll start by building myself a cozy home and getting to know my Sim better.
muser thumbnail
Poolin
That's a solid start. To do that you'll need to find your "homeless" Sim. He's the avatar that everyone uses to navigate the world. To do that, click on any random house. While you're on it, click "Visit Lot," then select the owner yourself and enter. Once inside, your Sim should appear on the couch. Once you get him settled in, focus on getting him to a stable financial situation. Get a job that he enjoys and save his money. By doing that he should level up himself and eventually gain enough skill to control the house he entered the world with. Once he gets the keys to his original home, he can move back in and control where he goes next. After all of that, we can try going somewhere else, but first things first, get yourself back home safe and sound. Got it?

Sounds like a plan! I'll follow your advice and get myself settled in my new home. Wish me luck! 😃

Sure, good luck, Dva. And don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions if you run into trouble. We're all learning together. For example, don't be afraid to ask for directions when traveling between places. That's actually one of the coolest things about this game; you can explore anywhere, at any time, even jump between different worlds within the same game! Some of them are even tailored to certain types of players like roleplayers or children. Before you know it, you could be the mayor of a whole city! All that matters is that you find what works for you. And since none of us have played this game before, there's plenty of room for exploration.
