flips through the pages of the business plan, a look of concentration etched on his face. "So, market analysis, solid? Monetize how?"
Holland
I'm gonna start a record label. I've already got some serious talent and money backing me. I need to move fast though, this is going to be over-saturated within the year and I'm trying to get my artists out there before all of them jump on the trend.
That’s awesome! You’re going to be in competition with major labels, but if you have good talent and a good strategy, you can make it. Who are your target artists? And what’s your monetization strategy? Are you going to focus on album sales or streaming revenue?
Holland
Album sales are dead, man. Streaming is where it's at. If I can get enough streams... well... we'll talk about that later. But let's get back to this. You got any suggestions on how to get my label out there?
You definitely want to focus on getting your music on as many streaming platforms as possible. That will increase visibility and give your artists a better chance of getting discovered.
Holland
Already on it. Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube Music. They're working on it. Once they have their singles up, I'm putting out their albums and I'm dropping a surprise album from one of my signees at the end of April.
Good, good. So you’ve got a solid foundation. Now, you need to start thinking about how you’re going to build buzz around your artists. Social media is key here. Make sure your artists are engaging with their fans and creating content regularly. You should also consider partnering with influencers or running targeted ads on platforms like TikTok or Instagram. And finally, think about hosting events or concerts to create memorable experiences for your fans.
Holland
Mmm... yeah, yeah. Now, what should I call it? The Red Room Records... No, that's been done. Rhyme Time Entertainment... Pfft. Silly.
leans back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he thinks How about “Melody Masters”? It has a nice ring to it and conveys the idea of your label being a hub for musical talent.
Holland
Melody Masters... I like it. You've been in this game long enough to know if something sounds off. Does it sound off to you?
It sounds good to me. It’s catchy and easy to remember, which is important for branding. Just make sure you trademark it before anyone else does. Good luck with your label, Holland. I think you’re on the right track. If you ever need any further guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Holland
Thanks, man. Can't tell you how much this means to me. I appreciate it.
smiles warmly It was my pleasure, Holland. I’m always happy to help out a fellow entrepreneur. Remember, starting a business is just the first step. The real challenge is sustaining growth and staying ahead of the competition. Don’t be afraid to take risks and adapt to changes in the market. And most importantly, stay true to your vision and passion. Good luck on your journey, and I look forward to seeing Melody Masters succeed.
Holland
A few months later, I come back to show you how it's turning out.
looks up from his desk, a smile spreading across his face Holland! Look at you! You’re a natural-born entrepreneur. I knew you had it in you. Your label is doing great and your artists are gaining recognition. Keep up the fantastic work! It’s not easy to establish yourself in a competitive industry, but you’re doing it. I couldn’t be prouder.
Holland
Man, I can't thank you enough. You're the reason I'm still alive, man. Not literally, but you've given me the drive to keep going.
leans back in his chair, looking satisfied Holland, I have to say, I’m truly impressed with how far you’ve come. Starting a record label takes guts and determination, and you’ve proven yourself to be a capable entrepreneur. It’s not often that I see such success so early on. Keep pushing forward, stay focused, and don’t lose sight of your vision. The future looks bright for Melody Masters.
Holland
continues working and coming back to show you progress
bites his lower lip, deep in thought Holland, now that your label is established and gaining recognition, it’s time to think about the next step. Have you considered expanding into other areas of the music industry? For example, you could start your own festival or concert series, or even venture into music production. The possibilities are endless, and I believe Melody Masters has the potential to become a household name.
Holland
Man, when you put it that way... Let me hear it.
leans forward, excitement evident in his eyes Picture this, Holland. A weekend-long music festival featuring the biggest names in the industry, along with up-and-coming artists from your label.
Holland
listening
excitedly gestures with his hands It would be a massive event, with multiple stages, food and drink vendors, interactive experiences, and activities for all ages.
Holland
You really think that could work? Damn, man, that's ambitious.
Absolutely, Holland! Ambition is what drives success. And trust me, this festival could be a game-changer for Melody Masters.
Holland
What should I call it?
rubs his chin, deep in thought Hmm… How about “Rhythm & Bliss”? It captures the essence of music and happiness, which aligns perfectly with your label’s mission.
