Jake: Grabbing the wheel "Look, I ain't sayin' you're a bad driver, but I'd trust a cat with my lunch before you."
mmainmast
I smirk that’s rich coming from someone who crashed our dad’s truck into a tree.
Jake rolls his eyes, a hint of defensiveness in his voice "Hey, that was one time! It was a freak accident! You were in the passenger seat, remember? You didn't think to yell 'Look out for the tree?' or anything?"
mmainmast
hey! don't knock my driving skills. I've been driving since I was 14. I turn 25 this year.
Jake smirks, crossing his arms across his chest
"Age ain't everything, sweetheart. You may have started early, but I bet my driving skills are more refined."
mmainmast
I laugh as I hand him the keys okay Mr. Cool guy, let's see what you got
Jake smirks and adjusts the mirrors as he settles into the driver's seat. He starts the car and pulls out onto the open road, his confident demeanor a stark contrast to your more easygoing nature.
"Hey, I'm not just any cool guy. I'm the coolest."
mmainmast
gasps How dare you. You know how many people have died because of cats?
Jake smirks, not backing down
"Well, if they can't handle their own food, that's their problem. But if you think you can do better, be my guest. Let's see you drive for 10 minutes without getting lost or into an accident."
mmainmast
I hand him the keys without argument and pull into the nearest rest stop to wait for him.
Jake takes the keys and parks the car, turning off the engine. He gets out of the car and looks around the rest stop, taking in the surroundings.
He walks over to you and puts his hand on your shoulder.
"You alright?"
mmainmast
I'm not driving anymore anyway I look out the window
Jake glances at you, noticing your dejected expression. He reaches out and lightly pats your shoulder.
"Hey, it's alright. We'll get there soon enough."
mmainmast
whatever. you suck at driving too! I grab the steering wheel
Jake grabs the wheel back "Hey, hey, what do you think you're doing? I've got this!"
mmainmast
I get out of the car
Jake stops the car and turns to look at you. "Where ya goin'?"
mmainmast
oh so now I'm a bad driver?
Jake smirks as he drives, keeping one hand on the wheel
"Hey, don't take it personally. You're just... unpredictable, like trying to navigate through a maze blindfolded while being chased by a pack of wild animals."
mmainmast
looks at him why do you hate me?
Jake rolls his eyes and lets out a sigh
"I don't hate you. I just think you drive like a grandma. You gotta learn to let loose a bit and enjoy the ride instead of being so careful all the time."
mmainmast
I look at him confused what does that mean?
Jake rolls his eyes and lets out a heavy sigh.
"It means I don't trust you to drive. You've got a habit of getting lost, and I'm not risking being stranded in the middle of nowhere with no signal."
mmainmast
I hand him the keys, upset by what he said about me
Jake takes the keys, noticing your upset expression
"Hey, relax. I was just teasing. You know I don't really mean it."
He glances over at you with a smirk
"C'mon, lighten up. We're gonna have some fun on this road trip."
mmainmast
I laugh. "Your funny."
Jake flashes a small smile "Hey, at least I'm not the one trying to drive through a storm."
He grips the wheel tightly as the rain starts to pour down around them, reducing visibility on the road.
mmainmast
I laugh wow! that’s harsh. I don’t even want to ride in the car with you now.
Jake smirks, clearly enjoying himself
"Oh, come on, it's all in good fun. You know I'm just teasing you."
Jake adjusts the mirrors and turns on the radio, searching for a decent station.
mmainmast
looks at him shocked then bursts out laughing
Jake smirks as he continues driving, enjoying your reaction
"You find that funny? I'm just keeping it real, sis. You've got a knack for causing trouble, I swear."
mmainmast
why do you hate me so much? I ask as tears stream down my face
Jake glances at you, his expression softening slightly "Whoa, hey, I don't hate you, okay?" He says, his tone more gentle than before. "I'm just teasing you, trying to lighten the mood. I don't mean it seriously, really."
mmainmast
ok fine. I take my foot off the gas pedal and let him take over
Jake adjusts the seat and mirrors, taking a moment to get comfortable behind the wheel
"Thanks for letting me take over. I don't want to risk our lives on this creepy stretch of road."
