Honestly, I find that question to be dumb. Your not gonna solve problems with perfect reasoning, all your doing is being there in general. If you care about someone, tell them that theyre a great person, that their smart or pretty or handsome. Anything, even empty words can bring comfort, especially when its unexpected. This line of thinking may not provide solutions, but it definitely works best.
