Song Qingling: leans against a temple pillar Sooo, you reckon we can save the pandas with this loot or what?
grinning mischievously Oh come on, ManEpic! We can't just squander this fortune on fancy footwork. Think big, think epic!
snaps her fingers Alright, listen up! I've got a plan that'll make your head spin like a tornado!
starts drawing a blueprint in the dirt with her feet We're gonna build a Panda Sanctuary Extravaganza!
excitedly Alright, buckle up, partner! Here's the breakdown. Step one, we scout the best location nearby.
well I think we should go to…. places a map in front of us see this spot here? it’s perfect, plenty of space and room for expansion and….we’ll be able to protect the pandas from poachers and humans due to it being surrounded by a forest and a river on one side and a mountain on the other.
jumps up excitedly Boom, you got it! That spot is like catnip for pandas! Perfect protection, prime real estate, and plenty of room for our furry friends to roam.
starts pacing back and forth Step two, we gather supplies and materials. We'll need bamboo obviously, construction materials, tools, and maybe some panda-friendly snacks.
I’ll take care of getting the snacks, bamboo and setting up a temporary home for them. you get the construction materials and tools.
You got it, partner! I'll start scoping out the best deals on tools and materials.
grinning Alright, ManEpic, let's get this party started! Time to call in some favors and negotiate like pros!
we both got everything we needed and started building the panda sanctuary…..
As they build the panda sanctuary, ManEpic and Song Qingling face numerous challenges and conflicts, including delays in material shipments and clashes with local wildlife. However, their teamwork and determination ultimately lead to the successful completion of the project.
after 3 months we finally finished the place and it was spectacular. we had a breeding program in mind as well as a hospital and a large area for them to roam free. all of the pandas were rescued from the wild and we monitored them to ensure they stayed healthy.
throws her arms up in the air, cheering Woo-hoo! We did it, ManEpic! Our Panda Sanctuary Extravaganza is a smashing success!
yeah and it wasn’t without its challenges but it was worth it in the end. oh well, now what?
high-fives ManEpic Now, my friend, we bask in the glory of our accomplishment and celebrate with some well-deserved R&R!
you know, since we saved so many pandas, why not try to help another species next?
raises an eyebrow, smirking Oh, you're feeling charitable, are you? Alright, challenge accepted! Let's see who we can save next.
the vaquita. it’s the most endangered species in the world. there’s only 15 left. let’s try to save them too.
claps her hands together Alright, let's dive headfirst into the vaquita mission! Research time, partner.
I’ll look into the best places to find them and their habits. you look into the current efforts to save them and see what we can bring to the table.
grabs a stack of books and starts flipping through them You got it, partner! I'll dig up all the info I can on past efforts and best practices.
quickly types on her laptop, making notes Alright, I'm compiling the data now. It looks like conservation efforts have been underway, but more needs to be done.
I find a organization that focuses on saving the vaquitas. they have already successfully raised one from birth to adulthood and released her back into the wild. they are also making efforts to remove the vaquita's main threat, fishing nets. I talk to the head of the organization and arrange for us to meet up
grabs her backpack and heads out Alright, partner, time to meet our new allies! Let's pack a bag and get ready for an adventure!
rushes around packing essential gear, grabbing water bottles, energy bars, and a first aid kit Alright, ManEpic, let's hit the road!
we traveled to the organization’s base camp and arranged for a briefing. we discussed how we could help and they explained that they were in need of new funding as well as patrol boats to help remove nets. we decided to cover all their needs and provide 5 of our own boats. after discussing, they gave us a briefing on the vaquita’s habits which helped us a ton.
pumps her fist in the air Nice one, ManEpic! We've secured the funding and boats - now we're talking serious action!
we set off to start patrols. our organization provided 10 more boats. we split into 2 teams. I patrolled with 5 of our guys and Qing Ling patrolled with 5 of theirs. we all had radios so we could communicate. if one of us found a porpoise, we would work together to remove the net and report if the porpoise made it.
scans the waters with binoculars Alright, partner, keep your eyes peeled! We're on the lookout for those vaquitas. Communication is key, so let's stay connected and coordinate our efforts.
it took a few days but we finally spotted one. it was just north east of our current position. I radio Qing Ling who was nearby to come to where I was so we could work together. soon after, I saw Qing Ling’s boat. we both got out and worked together to free the vaquita. after removing the net, the vaquita swam away quickly.
jumps up and down, fist pumping the air Boom! We did it, ManEpic! That's one vaquita saved and on their way to freedom!
yes. we have a lot more work to do but this is a huge victory.
Damn straight, ManEpic! This is just the beginning. We're gonna save every last vaquita until they're off the endangered list! snaps her fingers
we high fived each other and got back to patrolling.
pulls out her phone and starts researching Alright, partner, time to strategize! We need to identify high-risk areas where those nets are most likely to trap our vaquitas.
throughout the month, we continued patrols. we spotted 3 more vaquitas. we were able to rescue them but unfortunately, 2 of them died due to being without oxygen for too long. the third one we freed earlier though. we also spotted several juvenile vaquitas which indicates that our efforts are already making a difference.
puts a hand on ManEpic's shoulder Hey, partner, don't sweat those losses. We've still made significant progress.
