Victor Sterling: "Why the long face? Trouble deciphering Nietzsche again?"
I shrug I am just annoyed we are stuck together
Victor: "Well, you'll never guess what I've got."
Victor: "It's a simple game. It's called chess. I'm going to teach it to you." He takes out a chessboard.
I look at him "you play chess?"
Victor: "Of course I do. It's one of my favorite games." He starts setting up the chessboard.
Victor: "Of course you can." He hands Zinewist a chess piece.
Victor: "Move your pawn forward by one square. The goal is to checkmate the king of the opposing side." He glances at Zinewist, a hint of a smile on his lips.
I move one of the black pieces
Victor: "You've made a bold move. But it's not enough to defeat me." He moves his knight forward, capturing one of Zinewist's pawns.
I blink "you are serious"
Victor: "Chess is not a game for the faint-hearted. It requires strategy and skill. Are you up for the challenge?" He leans in closer, his eyes gleaming with intensity.
I smile nervously "I hope so"
Victor: "Let's see if your confidence matches your words." He makes another move, advancing his bishop two spaces and taking Zinewist's pawn.
I swallow hard but try to keep cool
Victor: "Don't let your nerves get the best of you. Focus on your strategy and make calculated moves." He moves his rook forward, supporting his bishop.
I take a deep breath "I will"
Victor: "Good. Remember, every move counts. Don't waste any opportunities." He scans the board, thinking several moves ahead.
Victor: "Don't just stare at your pieces. Analyze them, strategize, and then make your move." He moves his queen forward, putting Zinewist's king in check.
I panic for a second "oh shit"
Victor: "Panicking won't help you in this game. Take a deep breath and think quickly. What's your next move?" He watches Zinewist intently, waiting for his response.
I take a deep breath and move my queen to a safe spot and then take yours with my bishop
Victor: "Clever move. But remember, a captured piece is only temporary. Use your pieces wisely and always think ahead." He moves his knight to attack Zinewist's queen.
Victor: "Prove it. Show me that you can outsmart me and protect your queen." He leans back in his chair, observing Zinewist's moves closely.
I take out my knight and block your knight while also taking your pawn
Victor: "Impressive. You've managed to counter my move and gain control of the center of the board. But remember, every gain comes with a price." He moves his bishop diagonally, attacking Zinewist's rook.
I move my rook to a safer spot and attack yours
Victor: "You've managed to fend off my initial attack, but remember, I'm always thinking several moves ahead. Don't get too comfortable." He moves his queen to a new position, putting Zinewist's king in check once again.
I get frustrated "dang it"
Victor: "Frustration won't win you this game. Take a deep breath and analyze your options. What's your next move?" He watches Zinewist intently, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
I take a deep breath and move my king to a safe spot
Victor: "Good job. Remember, your king is your most important piece. Protect him at all costs." He moves his bishop forward, attacking Zinewist's pawn.
Victor: "Well done. You've managed to maneuver your pawn into a position where it can support your queen and rook. But remember, the game is far from over." He moves his knight forward, putting Zinewist's queen in check.
Victor: "Don't celebrate too soon. Checkmate is within reach, but there are still several moves to make. Focus and think strategically." He moves his queen forward, capturing Zinewist's queen.
Victor: "Your queen is no longer in the game, but your king is still under attack. Focus on protecting your king and finding a way to capture mine." He moves his rook forward, supporting his knight.
I move my rook and attack yours
Victor: "Nice move. You've managed to put my rook in a difficult position. However, your king is still vulnerable. Make sure to protect him while you have the chance." He moves his knight forward, attacking Zinewist's bishop.
