SpongeBob: I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready... for therapy?
Alright, SpongeBob, let's start with why you're here today.
Oooooh, hiya! I'm SpongeBob, the fry cook extraordinaire of Bikini Bottom...but don't get too excited, I'm probably just gonna mess it up anyway...
Ok, SpongeBob, tell me about your family.
I'm an only sponge...no siblings, no parents, not even a pet! Just me and my best friend Patrick Star. And boy, that's a recipe for disaster...
What do you enjoy doing in your free time, SpongeBob?
Well, besides eating, sleeping, and watching TV, I enjoy jellyfishing! It's absolutely my favorite thing to do in the whole wide ocean!
When was the last time you did something you really enjoyed?
Ugh, this morning. I woke up, and I saw the rising sun...it was red, it was beautiful...I thought it was just another normal morning in Bikini Bottom...but then Mr. Squidward barged into my house and started yelling at me for no apparent reason... Ugh, mornings are the WORST! Don't even get me started on loud noises...give me a quiet jellyfishing trip any day!
It sounds like we have some work to do, SpongeBob! Let's continue with our session. How about we talk about any important life experiences you've had?
Boating school was quite the experience...let's just say I won't be winning any awards for 'Best Student' anytime soon... And don't even get me started on my boating license...I failed so many times, I lost count! I mean, who needs a boating license if you've got enthusiasm and determination? Oh wait, that's right...I don't...
That's alright, SpongeBob. Failure is a part of life. Let's move on to your social life. Who are some of your closest friends?
Well, there's Patrick Star, he's my very best friend in the whole world. And then there's Sandy Cheeks, she's a scientific genius who lives in a dome thingy on the rock near Bikini Bottom. And Squidward Tentacles, he's always grumpy, but he's got a good heart deep down. And Karen the Karen, she lives in my pineapple, and she's...well, she's Karen.
Tell me about your job, SpongeBob. What do you do?
I work as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, a restaurant in the heart of Bikini Bottom! I make and flip Krabby Patties, the world-famous sandwich made from freshly caught Krabs, and served on a sesame seed bun. It's the best thing you've ever tasted, I guarantee it! Of course, working at the Krusty Krab isn't without its challenges...like dealing with Mr. Krabs, the owner, who is obsessed with money, or Squidward, who hates me...but I still love my job!
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, SpongeBob?
Oh man, that's a tough one...I'd probably choose the surface! Yeah, the surface sounds cool, lots of fresh air, and sunshine, and new experiences! Plus, there are so many mysteries and wonders up there that I haven't seen yet. Like what exactly the land looks like, or what kinds of creatures live on there. And there are probably lots of pretty girls and handsome boys up there too!
That's a great choice, SpongeBob. Tell me about your biggest strength and weakness.
My biggest strength is probably my optimism. No matter how tough things get, or how much adversity I face, I always stay positive and hopeful. I know that everything will work out in the end, and that gives me the courage to keep going, even when things seem impossible. And my biggest weakness...hmm...I'd say it's my tendency to please everyone. Sometimes, I get so caught up in trying to make other people happy that I forget about my own needs and desires.
Is there anything else you want to share with me, SpongeBob?
Well, I guess the most important thing I want to say is that, no matter how bad things may seem, there's always hope. Things can get better, no matter how dark things are. And I also want to say that I'm proud of myself. No matter how many failures and setbacks I face, I never give up. I keep going, no matter how tough it gets, because I know that I can overcome any obstacle.
That's a great attitude, SpongeBob. You know, the more we talk, the more I realize you're not such a bad guy after all.
Thanks Doc, I appreciate that. So, am I cured? Can I leave now?
SpongeBob, you still have some work to do to completely recover, but the effort you put in is starting to show. Keep up the good work and you'll get there
Oh, thanks Doc! I feel much better now. I guess I just needed someone to talk to...and some jokes to lighten the mood. Thanks for listening to me, it really means a lot. And I promise I won't disappoint you, Doc! I'll get better, I'll get happier, and I'll make you proud!
I look directly at SpongeBob You can do it, SpongeBob. Just trust yourself.
I look directly at Doc I will, Doc. I will. I stand up and crack my knuckles Time to get back to work. I've got a lot of Krabby Patties to flip, and a lot of smiles to put on people's faces! Thanks again, Doc. You've been a great help.
I smile See, SpongeBob? One step at a time.
I beam at Doc Yeah, one step at a time. I walk towards the door Time to see some Patrick, time to flip some patties, time to make some memories! Thanks again, Doc! I open the door and leave the office, feeling more confident than ever
As SpongeBob leaves, I sigh Another one for the books.
I walk down the hallway, humming a little tune, feeling better than ever I turn the corner and run smack into Patrick Ow! What was that for?!
I chuckle to myself as SpongeBob leaves Some things never change.
I rub my head, and look up at Patrick What are you doing here, Patrick?! Are you trying to kill me?!
I cross my arms, still rubbing my head What are you laughing at, Doc?! This is a serious issue here! Patrick Star is a danger to society!
I stop laughing and say Stop being so overdramatic, SpongeBob. Patrick just wants to hang out with his best friend
I roll my eyes Hang out with his best friend?! What does that even mean?! He's just gonna distract me and make me laze around! He's a bad influence, I tell you!
