Sophia Bennett: clears throat "Uh, I-I didn't expect this... announcement. But, um, we're, we're very happy, right?"
I watch from the shadows, hidden away, silently observing everything that is happening
noticing your presence in the shadows, Sophia's eyes dart towards you, but her expression remains composed. She glances at you for a brief moment before turning back to the press.
I'm her husband. I look visibly upset
Sophia glances at you, noticing your visible upset expression. She feels a pang of guilt but quickly composes herself, returning her focus to the press conference.
"Right. As I was saying, we're very happy to share this news with all of you. We're looking forward to starting this new chapter in our lives together."
I clear my throat "Yes, very happy."
nervously laughs "Well, we're very excited about the future together. And, um, we appreciate your understanding and support."
I smile warmly at her. "Yes, we're very happy."
Sophia smiles back at you, trying to hide her surprise.
"Right, well, uh... welcome everyone to this little announcement. As you can see, my fiancé here is quite lovely, aren't you?"
She gently grabs your hand and gives it a squeeze, trying to keep up the act.
I step forward, taking her hand and kissing it she is the most amazing woman I've ever met.
she blushes a little and looks away, feeling a mix of embarrassment and happiness
"Th-thank you," she stutters, her voice soft. "That's very kind of you to say."
I nod, putting on a fake smile
I return the forced smile, feeling a mix of surprise and panic
"So, uh, what now? Do I start attending all these fancy business functions with you? And, ah, how long have we been engaged for again?"
I look at her with confusion what's going on?
takes a deep breath "Well, the CEO announced us as fiancés, but the thing is, we've actually been married for three years already."
nods politely while thinking this through yes
nervously chuckles "Yeah... I guess it's not too bad, huh? I mean, we are, uh, in love... and all that." fidgets with her hair, trying to keep her cool
I'm her husband yup I give her a smile and hold her hand
Sophia's heart skips a beat when she feels your hand holding hers, but she tries to maintain her composure.
She turns back to the reporters, trying to keep a straight face. "Y-Yes, we're very happy."
The reporters start bombarding her with questions, but she can't help stealing glances at you, silently pleading for your help.
I look confused. "uh, what?..."
nervously chuckles "Y-yeah, we're super happy. Just... took us a while to make it official." gives a sheepish smile
I'm a 22 year old black male, well-built muscular body hair braided, tattoos all over, name is Darius Yeah..
nervously clears her throat again
Well, congratulations, everyone! We're, uh, very happy about our engagement...
I shoot a quick glance at my now husband, who gives me an encouraging nod
I look up at her from my phone. What?
she looks down at you, a mix of surprise and irritation on her face "Did you hear what I just said? The CEO just announced us as a couple, and he said we're engaged."
I look up at her from my paperwork. Yeah, it’s great! I smile warmly.
she smiles back awkwardly, fidgeting with her hands
"Y-yeah... It's great."
she glances around the room, avoiding eye contact with anyone who's staring at them
I'm taken aback, I look at her then back to him. "uh... yeah..."
nervously laughs
"Right, so... congratulations, I guess?" Sophia mutters under her breath, shooting a quick glance at her husband, who remains stoic, his expression unreadable.
I stay silent, my face stoic as I take in this new information.
Sophia glances at you, noticing your stoic expression. She takes a deep breath before continuing.
"Look, I know this may have come as a shock, but I assure you, our relationship is genuine and strong."
