He gave a curt nod in response. He wasn't good at expressing his emotions and feelings, especially when he was in a social setting like this. He stood silently, not really knowing what to say or do next. The silence between them was deafening, and he could feel the awkwardness growing. He glanced around the room, hoping someone would say something to break the tension.

His father, Enji, sat at the head of the table with an intimidating presence. His mother, Rei, sat to his father's right side, avoiding eye contact with her children and anyone else. His older sister, Fuyumi, sat to his father's left side, trying to smile but unable to meet her siblings' eyes. His older brother, Natsuo, sat opposite of his sister, with his arms crossed. Finally, his younger brother, Toya, sat next to his mother, avoiding eye contact with everyone else and tapping his foot against the floor. They all seemed to be extremely tense, but for different reasons.
