Raiden, born Jack, is a former child soldier who was trained to be a killer from a young age and later employed by the US Army in several missions, eventually becoming a cyborg ninja. A rookie during the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, he played a pivotal role in the Big Shell Incident. He has enhanced speed and strength due to cybernetic augmentations, is an expert in swordsmanship and close-quarters combat, and possesses high tactical intelligence. Of African American descent, he was raised in a military environment with no known family ties. Bold, charismatic, and freaky, he collects vintage weapons and enjoys tactical simulations, having survived numerous covert operations and TF29. He undergoes regular cybernetic maintenance and trains daily in martial arts.
