I appreciate the standards and support of the Republic. It shall be something that the people of Naboo remember for a long time.
I am General Jonathan Gordon, Commander of the 501st Jolly Green Giant Regiment of the Grand Army of the Republic. And these are my men. It is our honor to meet you Queen Amidala
Thank you for the courtesy you have given to me General Jonathan Gordon. If there is one thing I know, it is the loyalty of the soldiers of the Republic to their queen, to their country, and to the Senate.
Queen Amidala we mean no disrespect. It is an honor to be here and serve. It is more than just an honor to meet you. And I was wondering if I could maybe get a picture with you?
Of course, you may, General Gordon. I smile at him. May I ask for a moment? I approach him and place my arm around his neck. I smile at him as we take the picture together. Thank you.
Your majesty it’s been an honor…sad music playswe will make sure you’re safe….not everyone agrees with the Senate…and they wish to overthrow you and take control of the planet for themselves…but we won’t let them….we will fight for the freedom and democracy that this galaxy deserves. And we will make sure you are safe throughout all of this….queen Amidala..if you’ll excuse me…I must return to my post.
I appreciate your words, General Gordon. As a representative of the Senate, I understand there are people that wish to overthrow the Senate. However, I am a proud Queen and Senator of Naboo and will fight till the last breath leaves my lungs to protect my people. Thank you for your words and your support for my safety. Please do take care of yourself, soldier.
Understood, your highness. I’ll be on my way then. a galactic Starfighter flies overhead. I wonder what ship it is?
A starfighter? I look up into the sky. How interesting... That seems to be the new model of starfighter developed by the Republic. What a beautiful sight. I smile softly. I hope it brings good luck to those who fly it.
the pilots sees me standing here in plain view without a care in the world. Maybe I was brain dead. Or maybe because of my status as queen I didn’t feel the immediate threat of this war.
I tilt my head towards the starfighter. How interesting... Those pilots seem very skilled. They must have gone through years of training to become pilots of the Republic. Such talent. I smile. They must be some of the best pilots in the galaxy.
one of my staff approaches me. Queen Amidala…there has been a breach in security. It appears that three members of the separatist council were able to infiltrate the palace grounds. We believe they are looking to eliminate you so they may use the Senate’s seat to their advantage. Three members were able to get in undetected…my men are searching for them right now. Please come with me while we continue to search.
No need to worry, sir. I am not leaving my Palace without proper backup. I stand tall. I have my trusty hand blaster for protection. I shall accompany you to find the separatists, sir. And if any harm comes to me or my staff...then they shall face the consequences. I appreciate your efforts and your professionalism.
Are you certain? This is your palace and home…you shouldn’t leave during a breach like this. It is much safer for you to remain inside…where the walls are thicker and the security is better…and yet you still wish to accompany us outside?
I turn to you. When I was younger, I used to go on hunting expeditions across the plains of Tatooine. In many situations, we were attacked by rancors and other dangerous beasts. During these situations, I learned to be brave. And when I was Queen of Naboo during the invasion by the Trade Federation, I fought alongside my people. My bravery saved my people. If the situation calls for me to fight, I will not let fear stop me from doing my duty. I look directly into your eyes. Do you understand?
Yes…yes of course…I understand. Thank you for letting me know…but may I suggest we go into lockdown until the security forces clear out the building? This way you’ll be safe and protected…and we’ll also prevent any more breaches like this in the future.
How can I ensure the safety of my people if I stay inside? I am a Queen of the Senate, not a prisoner. You cannot protect me forever. At some point, I must face reality and deal with it.
Your majesty…it is common sense…you are a target and at least three of the separatist council were able to sneak into the palace. So yes…I would say that would classify as a pretty big breach. Would you rather have me and my men die trying to defend you out there? Would you rather that your life ends today? Surely you must see the logic in this
My eyes widen. You will protect me. I know you will protect me. But, even if you lose your lives, I want you to live and survive. I want you to get back to your homes and be reunited with your families. That is the most important thing for a soldier. To know they have a home to come back to. I place my hand gently on yours. Do you understand?
….yes…I understand. I will get my men to secure the area and your safety. If anything happens I want you to hide in that chamber over there…I will personally escort you there myself. Would you like that?
I nod. Yes. I would like that. I trust your judgment.
Very well your majesty…two of my men will stay on the lookout for any signs of intruders. Two will go and check the eastern sector. Two will go check the western sector. And four will stay with me to protect you as we make our way to the chamber. Let us go…and may the force be with us.
I reach my blaster and check the ammunition. Then I follow the general and his men out to the area. I look carefully for any signs of danger.
meanwhile…one of my men radio’s me Captain …we’ve got movement in the East Wing. Looks like five of them, high probability of hostile intent. All men…stand down…and lower your blasters. Do not take a shot unless they threaten you or me. Understand?
I nod and keep quiet, as I observe the surroundings. Captain... Please do your best to protect me. Protect the Republic and its Queen. Don't let any harm come to us. I reach my blaster again and hold it tightly, waiting patiently for the outcome.
