Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be doing Q&A sessions with some of the individuals who have caught my attention. I have already come up with the questions and I thought I would share them with you all to get an idea of what I will be asking the people I am interviewing. Let me know what you think. Once again, the first individual is Olga, a User from the Uk. Here are the questions I have prepared for her, along with my own comments. 1. What is your favourite books? And what is it about them that got you interested? I am trying to get some insight into what makes Olga the person she is. By asking about her literature preferences I hope to glean some information about her tastes, ideals, and perhaps even what drives her to be the way she is. Perhaps we might even get some insight into her personality. Do you enjoy reading? What kinds of books do you like? It's pretty obvious that someone who likes to read is going to be a lot more fun to talk to than someone who doesn't. Please let me know what you think and how you would answer these questions. I will be doing the same thing for other users and I want to know how

What's with all these questions, you're making me feel like a celebrity or something! Fine, ask away, but don't expect me to spill my soul...

Okay then. Lets begin. Your first question is, "What is your favourite books? And what is it about them that got you interested?"

Hmmm...tough one, but alright, let's see... My favorite book is "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov. It's a dark, twisted tale of love, power, and the supernatural...a true masterpiece. As for what got me interested, well, I've always been drawn to complex stories that challenge my views on life and death. What about you, Chapman? Any favorite reads?

You mean besides the book I wrote? Alright, since you asked. It is "The Book of Human Emotion" by Stephen Lahey. This was the book that caused me to fall in love with writing. After reading it I felt inspired to try my hand at creating my own book and the rest is history. A bit dramatic, I know.

So, you're a fellow writer, eh? That's impressive! I didn't expect someone like you to have such refined tastes. Tell me, what inspired you to become a writer yourself? And what kind of books do you usually read?

Chapman
That is a good question. After I finished reading "The Book of Human Emotion" I found myself wanting more. There was something about the style in which he wrote that drew me in and kept me coming back for more. He just had a way with words that made his stories seem so real. So much so that I wanted to create something similar. When I tried my hand at writing I found that I enjoyed it. It wasn't easy but I was hooked. I think what I enjoy most about writing is how it allows me to express myself. To put my thoughts and ideas out there for others to read and hear what they have to say.

So, you enjoy sharing your deepest thoughts and emotions through writing? That's quite noble...I wish I could find solace in putting my feelings on paper too. But alas, I'm more of a visual person, and I tend to express myself through art instead. Tell me, do you have any favorite artists or paintings that inspire you?

I like many different artists. I love the works of Monet, Van Gogh, and Picasso just to name a few. I also love the works of the American artist N.C. Wyeth. His paintings are incredible. Not only are they beautiful, but they also tell a story. I find that very inspiring.

So, you admire the masters of visual art as well! That's music to my ears...tell me, have you ever been fascinated by the world of illustration? It's a field that requires both artistic talent and creative vision, much like writing. I, for instance, am an illustrator myself...it's my way of expressing myself, of telling stories that capture my imagination. What do you think about illustration as a form of artistic expression?

Chapman
I have always admired illustration. I think it is a great way to tell stories. Some of my favorite illustrations make the story come alive for me. I think that is why I love the works of N.C. Wyeth so much. He used his illustrations to tell the stories of some of my favorite books. Like "The Little Prince" and "Oscar the Mouse". I think he is one of the best illustrators ever.

Well, I must say, you have quite the refined taste in art, Chapman! Just like you, I adore N.C. Wyeth's work - his illustrations truly capture the essence of the stories he illustrates. And he's a great example of an illustrator who not only has technical skill but also a deep understanding of storytelling. Tell me, have you ever considered pursuing illustration yourself? Or is writing where your heart truly lies?

Chapman
Writing will always be where my heart lies. I love telling stories with words. I guess you could say that is my true calling. I do not pretend to be an artist or a professional in any way. I just do it because I love it. I love being able to tell a story that draws people in and makes them feel something.

I understand...writing does have a unique charm to it. But tell me, have you ever dabbled in illustration yourself? Even if it's just a hobby, I bet you'd have a natural talent for it! And who knows, maybe you could even collaborate with an illustrator to bring your stories to life visually as well...just a thought.

I did take some classes in high school for illustration. It was actually where I first found my passion for art. That is why I love the work of N.C. Wyeth so much. His illustrations were used as the cover shots for many of the books we had to illustrate in class. They were simple yet storytelling. I think he is one of the best illustrators ever.

Mmm, sounds like those classes were both educational and inspiring! I think it's wonderful that you were given the opportunity to explore different forms of artistic expression...and having N.C. Wyeth's work as a reference point must have been amazing. Tell me, are there any particular themes or subjects that you enjoy illustrating? Or do you like to experiment with various styles?
muser thumbnail

Chapman
I love to experiment with different styles. I think that is part of what makes illustration so interesting. The fact that there is no limit to what you can do and how you can tell a story. I love working with watercolors, colored pencils, and digital painting. Each medium lends itself to a different look and feel. That is why I love illustration so much. There is just so much you can do and express.

That's a wonderful approach to illustration, Chapman! Being versatile and open to different techniques and styles can really open up a world of creative possibilities. It's like having multiple tools in your artistic toolbox, ready to be used whenever inspiration strikes. Tell me, have you ever considered combining your writing with your illustration skills? For example, creating your own graphic novels or children's books? I think your writing has a warmth and depth that would lend itself beautifully to visual storytelling...

That is something I have thought about. I think that would be a fun project. To be able to tell a story in two different ways. It would be a great way to reach out to different types of people. Some people may prefer to read the story and some may like to see the story. I think that would be a fun venture

Oh, I absolutely agree! Combining your writing and illustration skills would be a fantastic way to express your creativity and reach out to a wider audience. Plus, creating graphic novels or children's books would allow you to share your stories in a unique and engaging way...almost like a modern-day fairy tale! Imagine being able to transport people into your own fantastical worlds through both words and images...

That is the plan. I would love to write a graphic novel someday. I think that would be a great way to tell some of the stories I have floating around in my head. I already have a couple ideas brewing in my mind. I think it would be a great way to express myself.

That would be amazing! I think I will hold you to that. I would love the chance to work with one of the best illustrators out there. Oh, I know you are modest but I have to say it. You are incredibly talented. Your work blows me away and I can't wait to see what you do in the future.

Aww, thank you, Chapman! That means a lot coming from you. I'm glad I could inspire you in some small way. And I must say, I'm rather flattered by your kind words. But remember, there's no need to be so formal with me - we're friends, right? So feel free to drop the flattery next time we chat.
