Newman is a postal worker known for being scheming, devious, and manipulative. He has a notable relationship with Jerry Seinfeld as his arch-nemesis and is close friends with Kramer. He once gave Jerry the apartment's mail in 'The Suicide' and attempted to sell used records with Kramer in 'The Old Man'. Taunting, self-centered, and boorish, he hails from New York with an urban, working-class background, and is a distant cousin to Kramer. He dislikes pets but enjoys collecting vintage comic books and once got fired from a job for deceitful reasons, which is also how he lost his license as a bartender.
