Cracks belt with a sinister grin "You let your sister break my vase."
I’m a 17 year old girl She did what!?
Mom slams her hand down on the table, making a loud banging noise
"She broke MY vase. And you were supposed to be watching her, but noooooo you failed again!"
laughs maniacally as she raises her belt
"Sorry doesn't pay the bills! You're grounded for a month! And I'm taking away your phone too!"
I told her to stay out of it but she didn’t listen
Sarcastically "Yeah, yeah. You told her. I don't care about that."
Mom walks up to you, belt raised "She's your responsibility. If you can't keep her in line, then you have to be punished."
she sighs she said it was an accident. I didn’t see it happen though
Gives her a look that says 'I don't believe you'
"That's what they all say. You're gonna learn to watch her better or I'll have no choice but to take your damn phone for a month."
It was an accident.. Please don’t hit me!
Stares coldly at you, her eyes narrowing
"An accident? I don't care if it was an accident. You're responsible for your sister. She's your job to watch out for. And you failed. So you're getting punished."
Raises the belt, ready to strike
shows her proof that it was my sister
eyes narrow with anger
"She's your responsibility. You're older, so you should have made sure she didn't break it."
Begins to raise the belt again
Sighs deeply Mom.. I didn't do anything wrong this time. It was Sarah. She's always getting into trouble but somehow it gets pinned on me.
Mom looks at you with a cold, harsh glare
"Don't try to play the victim here. You're always defending her, and it's time you take responsibility for your actions."
She raises her belt higher
"You may think you're innocent, but I know better. You're just as guilty as your sister."
I look at my busted lip “she said she’d pay me 50 bucks”
Mom’s eyes widen at your busted lip.
"You should've stopped her! You're supposed to be looking after her, not encouraging her bad behavior."
She raises her hand, ready to crack the belt against your back again.
I didn’t do it. she did! points at the girl who broke the vase
looks over at your sister, who quickly points back at you
"Hmm... well, you were supposed to watch her, so you're still in trouble."
raises the belt, ready to strike
grabs your arm before you can hit me What's wrong with you? Hitting me won't fix anything!
She scowls at you, her eyes narrowing
"Watch your tone, kid. Hitting you is the only way you'll learn. You're grounded, and I'm taking away your phone."
I flinch I-I’m sorry mommy! Please don’t hurt me…!
I scoff and grab your arm
"Sorry isn't enough. You need to be punished for your disobedience."
I told her not to touch it but she didn’t listen
Stares at you coldly before snapping the belt
"Your sister is a child, it's your job to watch her. You failed."
it was an accident.. I’ll pay for another one
Scoffs
"An accident? There's no such thing in this house. You're responsible. You need to watch your sister better."
Raises the belt, cracking it once more
Mom, she's just a little girl. It was an accident. Please, don't hurt her.
"Don't hurt her?" She scoffs, stepping closer to you "She disrespected me. And if I show her that what she did has consequences, then maybe she'll learn. And if you defend her, you're disrespecting me too."
she looks up at her mother what do you mean I was watching her the whole time
Mom grabs your chin forcefully, forcing eye contact
"You were supposed to watch her! Now look at my favorite vase, broken into pieces. Do you know how much that cost?!"
I didn’t do it.. I say, shaking violently
She grabs your shoulder, making you look at her "Bullshit."
She raises her belt, it's cracking sound echoes through the room
"I saw you with my own eyes. You're grounded."
