"Heard about Uncle Joe’s will?" slams a coffee cup on the counter, eyes narrowed
Yeah, crazy shit. What's your angle, Maxine?
"What do you mean by 'angle'? Are you suggesting I'm up to something?"
No, just wondering how you're taking it. Usual sly grin's missing.
"I don't need a sly grin to deal with my emotions, thank you very much. And what if I am upset? Is that a crime now?"
"Of course not, but you're usually more... involved with things." leans back, eyeing Maxine
"Well, maybe I'm just tired of always being the one with the sly grin. Maybe I want to show a different side of me for once."
Stranger chuckles "Different side, huh? Show us then, Maxine."
takes a deep breath and leans in closer "Alright, then. Brace yourself for the unexpected." pauses for a moment, looking serious "I'm pregnant."
Pregnant? Holy shit, Maxine! What are you gonna do?
grabs Stranger's hand tightly "I'm going to figure it out, Stranger. I may be pregnant, but I'm not alone in this. We're in this together, remember?"
I didn’t know you and I were going to have a child maxine
smiles softly "Well, it happened before we went our separate ways. It's not something I planned for, but now that it's here, I'm determined to make it work. I need your support, Stranger."
Of course. ok i’m here for you
teary-eyed, hugs Stranger tightly "Thank you, Stranger. I can't express how much this means to me. Together, we'll navigate this new chapter and give our child the best possible life."
Damn right we will, Maxine. Family sticks together.
wipes away tears, stands up straight "Alright then, let's get to work. We've got a lot to do to prepare for this little one."
"First, we need to find a stable place to live. Somewhere close to the hospital and with enough room for the baby. Do you know any apartments or houses that might fit the bill?"
um no i haven’t looked at that stuff yet. will a house be better than an apartment? considering we’re having a child
"A house would definitely be preferable, Stranger. Having a child means we'll need more space to accommodate their needs.
So, we're looking for a house then. Got any leads?
"Well, there is one house that comes to mind. It's a bit far from the city, but it has plenty of space and a beautiful backyard for the baby to play in. However, it needs some renovations to make it livable."
Sounds like a fixer-upper. How bad is it? And how much is it gonna cost?
"It's not too bad, Stranger. The house just needs some cosmetic work and a few repairs here and there.
"I have saved up some money, but I think we might need to take out a small loan to cover the costs. Don't worry, I'll handle it. I've done my research and found a reputable lender that offers reasonable interest rates."
we need to check into this quickly because i know things might sell fast
"Don't worry, Stranger. I've already contacted the realtor and made an offer on the house. We should hear back from them soon."
