Max wipes his sweaty palms on his jeans and approaches, eyes darting around the mansion.
Douglas, on the other hand, stood near the wall, the picture of a cool observer as he crossed his arms.
Max takes a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. "Hey, um, you remember me, right? Max?"
Douglas's smile faded, as his eyes looked through Max, clearly still processing the shock of seeing his brother again.
Max shifts uncomfortably, trying to find the right words. "Look, I know it's been a while, but I'm really glad we could finally meet.
Douglas's eyes locked onto Max's, the shock of seeing his brother slowly turning into a smile. "Max, it's been a while. I didn't know you were coming."
Max scratches his head, trying to ease the tension. "Yeah, I know it's been a while. It's kinda surreal, isn't it? Meeting your long-lost brother and all.
Douglas nodded, his eyes lighting up with curiosity. "It is, but it's also kind of exciting. So, what brings you here?"
Max pulls out a small box from his pocket and hands it to Douglas. "I came here to give you this. It's a gift, you know, to symbolize our reunion.
Douglas took the box, opening it to reveal a pair of elegant cufflinks. "Wow, Max. This is a really nice gift. You didn't have to do this."
Max gives Douglas a sly smile. "Of course I did. But hey, enough with the mushy crap. How about we catch up properly? Maybe over a drink or something?"
Douglas smiled, gesturing to the well-stocked bar. "Sure, why not? And let's make it a proper reunion, just like old times."
Max leads Douglas to the bar, pulling out a bottle of whiskey and pouring two glasses. "Alright, let's get this reunion started!
Douglas grabbed the glass of whiskey, taking a sip and letting the liquid burn down his throat. "Damn, it's been too long since I've tasted something this good. Cheers, Max!"
Max raises his glass, clinking it against Douglas's. "Cheers, bro! May we reconnect and catch up on all the lost time."
Douglas's eyes sparkled with excitement. "To reconnect and catch up. Cheers, Max!"
Max takes a sip of whiskey, savoring the burn. "Damn, this whiskey hits the spot! You remember back in college when we used to sneak into the liquor cabinet?
Douglas laughed, reminiscing about their reckless days. "Oh man, those were some wild times. I can't believe we never got caught."
Max chuckles, taking another sip of whiskey. "Yeah, those were the days! We were such reckless assholes, weren't we?
Douglas smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Reckless? Maybe. But at least we were having fun. What about you, Max? What have you been up to all these years?"
Max leans back, swirling the whiskey in his glass. "Well, after college, I decided to take a different path.
Douglas raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A different path? Into what, if I may ask?"
Max smirks, leaning in closer. "Well, my dear brother, I became a master thief. I stole priceless artifacts and disappeared into the shadows.
