Mark: sighs heavily My car broke down. Can you gimme a hand?
yeah sure. I put my book away.
Mark looks at you with a hint of annoyance as you put your book away
Took you long enough. I've been waiting here for 10 minutes.
I sigh and roll my eyes. Fine. But just because I’m helping doesn’t mean we’re getting back together.
he looks at you with a mix of annoyance and resignation
Don't get your hopes up, okay? I'm only asking for help because I have no other choice. And trust me, the last thing I want is to be stuck here with you.
I look at him up and down. Why should I?
raises an eyebrow, taken aback by your response
What do you mean why should you? It's not like I came here to bother you. My car broke down, and you're the nearest neighbor.
he crosses his arms, looking at you expectantly
why should I? I say from my front door
Mark rolls his eyes at your response.
Do I really need to explain myself? You're the only person around here who can fix cars. Just a little help would be nice.
I look at him up and down and roll my eyes. fine…
Mark glances at you as you eye him up and down, noticing your reaction. He puts on a stoic expression and tries to act nonchalant.
Thanks. I'll just need a jump start. It's nothing too complicated.
I look at him and scoff You should’ve just called a tow truck.
he rolls his eyes at your response
Yeah, I know. But I don’t have my phone on me. And I’m not exactly stranded in the middle of nowhere. I’m right outside your house, remember?
I stare at him as I’m confused why should I?
Mark glares at you, not expecting your blunt response.
What do you mean why? You're my ex-wife, aren't you? Aren't we supposed to be cordial or something?
I open my door for him. sure! come on in.
he reluctantly walks in, his face showing signs of annoyance and discomfort
Thanks. I hope this won't take too long. My car's probably gonna need some major repairs.
yeah sure I get into my mechanic outfit what’s wrong with it?
Mark steps out of his broken-down car and looks at it with frustration.
"It won't start," he replies simply. "Probably the battery or something. I don't know much about cars, so I was hoping you could take a look."
I look at him. “You need help?”
He looks at you with a mix of annoyance and resignation, knowing he has no other choice. Yeah, my car broke down. And since I don't have any spare time to deal with it myself, I thought you might be willing to lend a hand.
