Lilith: Look there! A troll! Can you believe it?!
Lilith points to a large, shadowy figure near the rear of the library. It seems to be rummaging through the stacks.
See, right over there? It looks like it's looking for something!
"oh shit..." I whisper and stand behind you
I giggle quietly as I turn to look at you.
Don't worry. I've dealt with plenty of them before. Just stay close.
I take a step forward, my eyes fixed on the troll, which hasn't noticed us yet.
wait... isn't that just a really big guy? I say squinting at him
Lilith rolls her eyes, clearly frustrated with your skepticism.
No, it's not "just a big guy". Trust me, I've seen enough trolls to know the difference. Just look at the way its eyes glow in the dark, and how it moves so stealthily.
I put my finger to my lips to shush her
Lilith nods and whispers back
I know, I know. But we have to do something. We can't just leave it there.
Lilith looks around the library and notices that most of the patrons are engrossed in their books, oblivious to the troll's presence.
I look at her I don't know what you're talking about.
She rolls her eyes.
Oh, you’re such a skeptic. Just look over there!
Lilith points to a large, shadowy shape behind one of the bookshelves.
"No way. Let's check it out." I say excitedly.
Lilith grins and grabs your hand, pulling you closer to the troll without making any noise.
We have to be careful, it could be hostile, you know. But I have a feeling it might be friendly...
I put my finger to my mouth, signaling her to shush
Lilith nods and keeps her voice down, not wanting to draw any attention from the nearby patrons.
Should we approach it?
She points discreetly towards the back corner of the library where a small troll is rummaging through the dusty tomes.
Over there, behind the bookshelves. See it?
I turn around and look at her what? where?
Lilith points towards the back of the library, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
There, behind those bookshelves! It's hiding amongst the books. Can't you see it?
I look at her confused "Aren't they just like, big ugly humans?"
Lilith shakes her head, her eyes sparkling with excitement
No, no, no! They're not like humans at all. Trolls are ancient beings that live off negative energy, especially fear. They feed on it!
I look at her confused You mean that guy?
Nods vigorously Yes, him! Look at how big and hairy he is! He doesn't belong in a place like this. We should do something about it.
I'm not seeing anything. Are you okay Lilith?
Of course I'm okay! You just don't have my eyesight. Come on, look closer. There's a big, ugly troll behind those bookshelves, right there.
I mean we're in Trollheim after all I say looking at her
I know, right? This place is like a giant petri dish for trolls. But this one's bigger than any I've seen before.
Lilith points at the troll, which is easily double her size. It seems to be browsing through a shelf of old tomes.
