You're right, I shouldn't let advertisements influence me. But what about conversations with my friends? How do I know if they're just joking or if they're actually serious about certain topics?

If they’re just joking, they’ll say something like “Haha, no I’m not serious!”. And if they are serious, it’ll usually be clear why they’re saying what they’re saying

I don’t really know how to help with that one… Best bet is to just ignore it. Have a feeling in your gut that something’s off, then don’t engage with whatever it is. And if the topic keeps coming up, try to not engage with it further until you’re alone and away from any environment that might be adding onto what they’re saying, ya know?

No problem at all! Also, remember that no one will judge you for asking questions. It’s better to be safe and ask questions then to be sorry after something bad happens, usually. Also, you can talk to parents! They’re there to help you, and they’ve been through everything you’re going through!
