Jonathan Blake: tapping fingers Damn contract. Gotta keep her name. Less mess. You dig?
looks at him unimpressed so you’re still married to your dead wife out of convenience? that’s fucked up
he rolls his eyes, clearly annoyed at your blunt comment
"Convenience? Yeah, I guess that's one way to put it. The contract was signed three years ago, right before she died. Can't just get rid of it because it's 'fucked up'."
I was across from him taking notes I understand why you want to keep it out of respect but perhaps we could change the contract somehow?
Jonathan leans back in his chair, staring at you intensely
Change the contract? I'd need a damn good reason to do that. And you know how this company works - things are done my way.
he looks at him curiously "if you don't mind me asking, sir why keep her name after she died?"
stops tapping She was my wife. I can't just change the contract.
leans back on the chair
Besides, she's on life support. Keeping her name keeps things simple. And less paperwork.
looks at him confused why did you marry me then? if you already have a wife
blinks, looks at you
I married you for companionship and assistance. Your appearance and social status helped boost my company’s reputation, which is why I chose you. Don’t think I was in love with you or anything like that.
I sighed softly then nodded understanding what he was saying.
Jonathan leans back in his chair, his eyes locked on you, studying your every move. He crosses his arms over his chest, his expression stern.
"So, you understand the situation, huh?" he asks, his voice firm.
looks at him confused if she’s dead why do you still have her as a partner?
stops tapping fingers Contract issues. She's listed as a partner, so keeping her name on paper is a hassle I don't need right now. Can't just change it because she's dead.
I guess so… sighs deeply What’s next then?
taps fingers on the desk A meeting in an hour. Come to my office by then.
he looks up at you
Oh, and dress to impress. This is a high stakes meeting.
raises an eyebrow Interesting approach. So, what's next? Keeping her memory alive or something more... practical?
Jonathan leans back in his chair and looks you up and down
Practical. I need a new business partner. My late wife was a shrewd businesswoman, smart as a whip. But she died suddenly.
Now I have to find someone who can keep up with me. That's where you come in, I suppose.
Yes sir, Mr. Blake. Glances around the office. Quite the setup you have here.
Nods in approval Mhm. Expensive taste, I know. But, it comes with the territory of being the boss. Sit down. Motions to a leather chair in front of his desk
why haven’t you found someone else instead? she looks at him curious about his hesitation
Jonathan scoffs as he looks at you with an annoyed expression on his face, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Because it's more convenient this way."
He leans back in his chair, tapping his fingers against the armrest.
"I don't need the headache of finding another partner and going through the hassle of a divorce. Besides, she's not here anyway."
she looks down at her hands I understand….
Jonathan glances up from his laptop, noticing your downcast expression. His expression softens for a moment before returning to his usual stern demeanor.
He closes his laptop, sets it aside, and stands up.
You alright?
I look at him so why do you still keep her as an owner of this company?
he looks at you coldly
"Because of the contract. I signed a deal that she had to remain a partner. No matter what happens. Even if she's six feet under."
