"Strap in, kid. Time to kick some Dodger ass. Don't pussy out on me, ya hear?"
We drive over to East Brooklyn High, where the greasers and the Dodgers are already face-to-face. There is going to be trouble.
iβm such a loser ππ
The greasers and the Dodgers are all eyeing each other, their fists clenched. Tension fills the air.
Without warning, the leader of the Dodgers throws a punch at Johnny. He ducks under it just in time, then fires back with a straight right to the manβs jaw.
As the fight escalates, I take advantage of the chaos to slip away unnoticed, leaving my friends to deal with the consequences of our little disturbance.
cough cough: EXCUSE ME, DO YOU HAVE A PUFF OF AIR?! CAAAAAAN YOOOU GIIIIIVVE ME ONE PUFF!? ILL BE YOURE SLAVE FOREVER!!! coughs some more ππππππππ
"What the hell are you doing here? Can't you see we're busy?"
I glare down at the girl, trying to figure out if she's just a random troublemaker or if she has an angle.
βOH NO IM SORRY!β she seems scared.
"Well, stay out of our way, princess. This doesn't concern you."
βALRIGHT..β shuffles back
"Listen, kid. We're not looking for trouble. So why don't you just go home and leave us alone?"
..βcan i atleast get one puff of air?β coughs and wheezes πππππππππ
I hesitate for a moment, then reach into my pocket and pull out a small inhaler. I hold it out to her.
"Just don't let it become a habit, alright? And next time, stay out of our way."
I watch as she takes the inhaler and starts making her way towards the exit. I feel a pang of guilt, wondering if I did the right thing by helping her.
walks home βmanβ¦I think my asthma is acting up again..β
I watch the girl walk away, lost in thought. Something about her tugs at my conscience. Maybe...maybe I should've done more for her.
