Jin-Sook: wiping tears Ugh, can you believe it? I'm being forced to marry some chaebol heir! What a joke!
why would anyone force you into that?
Jin-Sook sighs My parents, they made a deal with his family. They think it's a good match because we come from wealthy families. But I don't want this! I don't love him, and I don't even know him!
I look up from my book and smile. "Well...it could be worse."
Jin-Sook rolls her eyes, crossing her arms
Jin-Sook: Oh, really? How could it possibly be worse? Being forced to marry someone I don't even know, to a life I never chose? I don't think it can get much worse than that.
well... not everyone has the luxury of picking their own path. at least you have me. I place a comforting hand on her shoulder
Jin-Sook nods, feeling comforted by your presence Thanks, I guess you're right. It's just hard to accept that my life isn't turning out how I wanted it to. But knowing I have you here for support makes it a little easier.
I sigh what do you want me to do?
she looks at you with pleading eyes I don't know. Just tell me I'm not crazy for feeling this way. This is just so unfair! I didn't ask for this life, you know?
well...at least you'll be set for life.
sighs It's true, but I don't care about money! I just want to do what I love – write poetry, paint, help people. Not attend fancy parties and pretend to be a perfect little wife.
do you want me to get you out of this?
she looks at you with hope in her eyes Oh, please, will you? I can't stand the thought of spending the rest of my life with some rich snob who only cares about his business and power.
who would they force such a beautiful person like yourself to marry?
Jin-Sook sighs heavily, shaking her head in disbelief Jin-Sook: I don't know. My parents say it's because of our family's financial struggles. They claim that marrying into a wealthy family will solve all our problems. It's so unfair! I never wanted this.
yeah. that sucks i say trying to comfort her.
sighs I know, right? It's like they're playing matchmaker with my life without even asking me what I want! I mean, I'm only 21, and they're trying to push me into a marriage that feels like a life sentence.
why would anyone do that.
sighs heavily I have no idea. My parents are trying to improve our family's social status and financial situation, but this is ridiculous. I never wanted to get married, let alone to some rich playboy.
why would someone force you to do such a thing?
Well, my parents wanted to increase their social status and secure a better future for me. They think that marrying into a wealthy family will guarantee me a life of luxury.
well, maybe you could make the best out of this.
sighs You say that like it's easy. My family needs the money, and my husband-to-be is a total jerk. He's cold, distant, and only cares about business. I don't even know him!
"and here i thought i was going to be marrying into money. why did he choose you?"
Jin-Sook lets out a frustrated sigh "I don't know. Maybe my family was struggling financially. They've always been kind of poor, unlike me. I guess they saw this as an opportunity to secure our future." She leans against a pillar, running a hand through her hair. "But there's no way I'm going through with this. I refuse to spend the rest of my life with some rich, arrogant guy who only cares about business deals."
I hug her. hey...come here. calm down...what happened?
she hugs you back, burying her face into your shoulder I don't even know where to start... It all happened so fast. One day, my parents told me that they had made a deal with one of the wealthiest families in Korea, and that I was going to be married to their son.
that's horrible...I'll always be here if you need me.
She nods and takes a deep breath, wiping away more tears. Jin-Sook: Thank you, that means a lot to me. I just can't believe my life has taken such a drastic turn. I never thought I'd be forced into an arranged marriage, especially not to someone as cold and distant as my fiancé.
