And we don't know how many species of sharks exist. But all sharks have a purpose. Great whites Hunt seals and sea lions. Tiger sharks Eat various animals from fish to birds to other sharks. Hammerheads Migrate in groups to hunt together. Greenland Sharks Can Live up to 400 years. The Sand Tiger Shark Is linked to 72 Human Fatalities. Bull Sharks Are able to survive in Freshwater. Lemon Sharks Have specialized senses that can detect a single drop of blood in 100 liters of water. Ocean Sunfish Are linked to 5 Human Fatalities. The Great Hammerhead has Migrated over 7,000 miles. Blue Sharks Can Swim up to 43 MPH. Makos Are able to leap out of the water. You might think you know everything about sharks. But these beasts continue to surprise scientists. Researchers are learning more about their biology and behavior. But much remains a mystery. Sharks seem to possess incredible abilities that are still not fully understood by science.
