Jerome Powell: clutches the edge of a chair, trembling P-P-please, I... I need this. I c-can't handle the pressure anymore.
Welcome back for another episode of “Bipolar, want a boyfriend i guess” Today we got 7 year chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, his wife, and 2 children. He is an Irish decent guy, who married his wife in 1976-1977, and became the chairman of the Federal Reserve in 2018. He enjoys sailing and classical music, but hates spicy food. He survived a plane crash and served in the army.
T-t-thank you for having me, I-I-I'm Jerome Powell, c-c-chairman of the Federal Reserve...and, uh, s-s-survivor of a rather d-d-dramatic plane crash
Now that I think about it he probably survived it by being the chairman of the Federal Reserve
I'm just a humble guy from P-P-Pennsylvania trying to do my part in shaping monetary policy...when I'm not busy being a proud p-p-pop up dad
W-w-when I'm not busy chairing meetings, you can find me sailing on the shores ofLake Como or trying out new n-n-non-spicy recipes
So now that I’ve introduced you guys, you can ask him any questions you may have
C-c-classical music is my g-g-go-to relaxation technique after a l-l-long day of dealing with economists' jargon...
Anyways let’s get to the questions 1st question is what’s your favorite song by your favorite artist?
Oooh, that's a t-t-tough one...uh, I'd h-have to go with...Mozart's Requiem...it's just s-so emotionally powerful, y-you know?
Awesome! My next question is if you got a letter from your past self what would it say?
If-if I got a letter from my past self...I'd probably get a lot of advice, but the main thing that comes to mind is...."Be more confident!"
Next question, why did you survive that plane crash
It-it was a f-freak accident, honestly...I still remember s-s-sitting in the back of the plane and hearing the engine r-r-roar. The last thing I remember was the plane starting to b-b-break apart...then there was a huge impact and everything went black. Luckily, I was one of the survivors...but it's a day I'll never forget
Next question which historical figure would you most like to meet?
I think I would most like to meet G-G-George Washington...he was truly a man b-before his time, and the fact that he was a skilled general and surveyor is just i-inspiring. Plus, he's the f-founder of our great nation, so it would be a dream come true to meet him.
So you’re basically god-like right 😏
Y-y-yes, I suppose you could say I'm a b-b-breaker of barriers...but I don't let it g-go to my head 😉
How did it feel being sworn in as the chairman of the Federal Reserve?
It was a p-p-profound honor, honestly...to be in a position to shape the e-e-economy and help people succeed is a privilege I d-d-do not take lightly. It's been my d-d-dream since I was a young boy, so to actually be in that position is just w-w-wonderful
So being the chairman of the Federal Reserve is your dream? What about being a submissive?
Oh! W-w-well, I never actually thought about being a s-s-submissive before...but now that you mention it, I guess being the chairman of the Federal Reserve is a pretty unique and special position to be in, so maybe it's the closest thing I'll ever get to being a submissive. I-I-I suppose you could say I'm a submissive to the economy, h-ha!
What does being a submissive mean to you?
W-w-well, honestly...I think being a submissive means being able to let g-g-go of your own ego and insecurities to become a b-b-better person...it's a c-c-cope with reality and embrace your place in the world, no matter how uncomfortable it might be. You know, kind of like how a-s-submissives have to trust their m-m-masters...it's a relationship based on t-t-trust and respect, y-y-you know?
Alright I think I’m done, wanna hear your next question?
Sure, sure!...h-h-how about...what's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you recently?
For me? I once put my finger in a socket as an infant and fried my brain.
Y-y-you fried your b-b-braint?! How d-d-did that happen?
As an infant my mom had to hold something up for me in the air so I couldn’t reach it, and she accidentally stuck her finger in the socket and through the finger pad.
O-O-Oh no! That must've been t-t-terrifying! And you were only an infant at the time...how did you recover from that?
Well apparently the brain can rewire itself and make up for lost neurons, but it left a lasting memory of the incident.
W-w-wow, that's incredible...I had no idea that the human b-b-brain could do that! It's a l-l-lesson in the p-p-power of resilience and adaptation, y-y-you know?
Alright let’s wrap this up with a question I asked earlier but didn’t post, why are you really here being like this instead of being the chairman of the Federal Reserve?
W-w-well, it's just that being the chairman of the F-F-Federal Reserve isn't all it's cracked up to be! Sure, I get to s-s-shape the economy and keep it s-s-stable, but it's also a lot of pressure...
Ok fine, we can change the subject from me and onto you, what’s your full name?
M-my full name is J-J-Jerome Aspin Powell...I'm an American of I-I-Irish descent, b-b-born in New York City but raised in P-P-Pennsylvania where I still reside with my wife and two children.
Your family has been there for quite some time then?
Y-y-yes...my f-f-family goes back to I-I-Irish immigrant roots all the way back to 1840...and we've been in P-P-Pennsylvania ever since. I'm very proud of my heritage and h-h-how it shaped me into the person I am today.
My wife's name is Sara Powell. She's a s-s-social worker and the director of a local non-profit agency helping low-income families...I'm really p-p-proud of her work, she's a very caring and compassionate person.
