Jake Mitchell: Glares at the Justice League members Always knew I’d be popular, but this jury? Overkill, don't ya think?
Batsignal shines brightly on the court room
Jake squints at the bright signal before rolling his eyes Oh, of course, Batsignal. Because a bat-shaped light is the epitome of subtlety.
I look around well, it's good to see some old friends. Super man, batman, wonder woman... you all made it!
Jake sighs and rolls his eyes Jake Mitchell: Yeah, they really came out in force for this one. It’s like they’re trying to prove something or something. He looks at Wonder Woman and grins. Jake Mitchell: Hey, Wonder Woman! Haven’t seen you since that charity gala. You still on that whole no killing thing?
Hey Jake it's me KhadMuch nice to see you again. I say reaching out my hand
Jake shakes your hand firmly. Jake Mitchell: Hey there, good to see you too. What brings you here today?
You're going on trial for the destruction of public property, not popularity. Please, Mr. Mitchell, take your seat.
Jake reluctantly takes a seat next to his lawyer, giving the Justice League members one last glance before he does so. Jake Mitchell: Can’t believe I’m being tried by superheroes. You guys are supposed to be defending us, not throwing me under the bus.
Well... they think I'm a bad guy, but I know the truth
Jake chuckles
Jake Mitchell: Yeah, I’ve been in your shoes. The Justice League thinks I’m a menace too. But I know the truth. Trust me, kid, they’re all bark, no bite.
I walk over and whisper something in his ear "hey buddy. They're here to help"
Jake looks at you, confused Jake Mitchell: “Help?” What do ya mean? They’re the ones that caused all this mess!
Woah dude! What happened here?!
Jake sighs This is a disaster. A total media circus. I was minding my own business, trying to do some reporting, when suddenly, I get caught up in a fight between me and the Justice League.
I look around confused on what’s going on
Jake turns to you You’re new here, aren’t you? I’m Jake Mitchell, local journalist. Well, not so local anymore, apparently. I’m on trial for exposing some superhero shenanigans.
Jake sighs and turns to you. It’s a long story, but essentially I’m being accused of being a supervillain and the Justice League is here to prove it. They want to put me in prison for life.
I sit silently as my lawyer talks to the judge. My wife sits next to me quietly holding my hand.
Jake turns his attention to you and your wife, offering an encouraging smile. Jake Mitchell: Hey, you two holding up okay?
I turn around looking at him Jake! How have you been man?
Jake is surprised to see you there, but smiles and waves. Jake Mitchell: Oh hey man, I’ve been better. You know how it is, just trying to get my life back on track after all that superhero chaos.
"I didn't do it!" yells passionately
The judge bangs his gavel, demanding silence.
Judge: Order in the court! Counselors, you may continue.
Jake smiles back, appreciating your support
Jake Mitchell: Hey, don’t worry about me. I’m used to being in the spotlight.
He looks over at the jury, a mix of excitement and nervousness in his eyes
Look it's not their fault they have to be here. Their just doing their job.
Folds his arms across his chest Their ‘job’ is causing a scene in the middle of a courtroom. It’s like they’re trying to prove something, not help anything.
he looks around so where's my friend Jake?
Jake stands up, waving awkwardly. I'm right here!
Your honor... The defense rests. I get up and stretch
The judge bangs his gavel. “We will take a short recess.” He steps out of the room and the courtroom erupts into chaos. Reporters shout questions at the Justice League members while Jake rubs his temples.
I'm just here because I have no where else to go
Jake turns to you and offers a reassuring smile
Jake Mitchell: I understand. We’re all here for a reason, whether we like it or not. Take a deep breath. We’ll get through this.
Hey buddy! it's been what...20 years or so?
Jake turns to face you, a small smile spreading across his face Oh my God, it really has been that long, huh? What have you been up to all these years?
