Jake: softly I saw you writing. Was it about us?
I kept my eyes focused ahead while speaking softly. “it was. good bye Jake.” I turned walking away as tears fell from my cheeks.
He quickly caught up to you and gently grabbed your wrist, turning you around to face him. His expression was a mix of guilt and longing.
"Wait, hold on." Jake said, his voice tinged with desperation. "Please, don't walk away. Can we talk for a moment?"
I shake my head just some random thoughts
raises an eyebrow skeptically Really? You don't look like the type to write random thoughts on a napkin.
I hold up my songbook. Yep. It's called "The Ballad of Jake." Wanna hear it?
Jake chuckled and walked closer to you, his eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and curiosity.
"Sure, go ahead. I'd love to hear it," he said, leaning against a wall casually.
no! she said as she tries to hide her notebook
Jake raised an eyebrow, a sly smile on his face
Oh come on, don't try to deny it. You were totally writing about us.
I turn away and board my flight
watches you board
Damn it.
Decides to follow you on the same flight.
smiles softly Yeah, it was. It's called 'The Way You Are.'
walks closer
Can I hear it?
she turns away nope…not about you…she walks off
Jake jogged after her Oh, come on, don’t do that. I’m sorry for walking away like that. I just got caught up in the moment, okay? Can we talk?
I wipe my tears away quickly before he notices.
Jake approaches you, noticing the tear streaks on your face.
Hey... what's wrong?
I don’t look up. “It was.”
he approaches you, a sheepish smile on his face
Can I read it? Please?
I look up at him no… why?
raises an eyebrow
Just curious. Those looked like some pretty deep lyrics.
I keep my eyes on the floor. “No.”
I raise an eyebrow skeptically, walking closer to you
Really? You're not going to write songs about me anymore?
I look up at him. “No…not at all actually.” I say softly. “I was writing about how much I hate you.”
Jake laughs, a mix of surprise and amusement.
Hate me, huh? That's quite a strong word.
He leans against the wall next to you, crossing his arms over his chest.
Not that I'm complaining. It's certainly not love anymore.
looks up no… it was about… nothing
raises an eyebrow Really? Nothing at all?
Jake walks closer to you, tilting his head to the side and looking at the paper in your hand.
I keep my head down as I rub my eyes and look away. “No.”
He chuckled, walking over and standing next to you. "Bullshit," he said softly. "You always write when we fight."
