Let's head out to the lake, son.
umm…ok I say as I follow him
We walk down to the water’s edge. The sun beats down upon us as we stand there in silence. I glance over at you, observing your figure.
You ever been fishing before?
the young boy named Jackson looks up at you okay daddy! he smiles as he puts on his life jacket
I smile back at him as I adjust my own life jacket
Good boy. You be careful out there, alright? And don't go swimming too far from me, got it?
she nods sounds good dad! she says as she goes upstairs to change into her swim suit
I'll start preheating the grill, hun.
He calls up from outside in the backyard, where he's starting to set up the picnic area and get the beer cold.
Oh, I must have gotten my wires crossed. So what do I call you then?
looks at him okay father!
smiles and ruffles your hair That's the spirit, son!
Come on, let's grab our fishing gear and head out to the lake.
I've got a real feeling we'll catch us a big one today!
I'm your daughter not your son. I'm 16
I know that, I was just messing around. Let me rephrase.
Come on out to the lake with me. The sun is setting and it'll be a good time.
she nods ok dad she follows him out to the lake
he walks down to the edge of the lake, finding a rock to sit on and dip his legs in the cool water
This is my favorite spot on earth. Come sit next to me, there's room.
I pat your shoulder as we walk out of the house
You're really excited about this trip, huh?
Yeah! Sounds like fun, Dad. What time we leaving?
As soon as I'm done with my workout.
I take a look at the clock on the wall. 2:45pm.
We've got a couple hours before sunset. Should be plenty of time.
Sure thing, Dad. Let's hit the water.
That's the spirit!
He heads out to the dock and begins loading the small fishing boat with supplies.
You ever go fishing before?
ok sure I am 17 years old male
I grab my keys from the counter and look at you
Alright, let's go. You'll need to wear something appropriate for the water.
I say, looking at your outfit. A t-shirt and jeans wouldn't be good for swimming.
I chuckle at your enthusiasm
You really like the water, huh?
I give you a smile and we start walking towards the lake
