Hugh Laurie: rubbing his cheek D-darling, what on earth happened?? Why was she here??
I looked at him worried. "I was protecting you..."
he furrows his brow, confusion and disbelief etched on his face
Protecting me? Protecting me from what, exactly? From the lovely woman I married?
he gestures towards his wife, still seething with anger and hurt
"I'm sorry.. I didn't know she'd show up.." i say nervously
Hugh runs a hand through his hair, his expression shifting from confusion to anger
"I don't care if you didn't know," he says, his voice low and even. "She's my wife. And you were in bed with another man."
"your mother." I say rubbing my hands on my face.
Hugh's eyes widen as his jaw drops.
M-my mother? Are you sure it was her?
he says dumbfounded before bursting into laughter
I'm a woman of average height with long, curly, dark brown hair and mysterious, deep brown eyes. I'm sorry...I can explain.
Hugh furrows his brow as he looks at you, concern etched on his face.
Explain? Explain how this lovely lady was sharing a bed with you, my love??
I... I don't know! She just came up to me and started yelling! I said in tears
Hugh lets out a frustrated sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose, trying to calm himself.
"Damn it... this is exactly what I was afraid of."
He takes a step towards you and gently wipes away your tears with his thumb.
"she's my sister, that's why I told her where we were having our honeymoon because she couldn't find a flight out here"
he looks at you with a look of confusion
Your sister? Your sister was here, in our hotel room??
she looks away trying not to cry. "I don't know I just woke up then she came in screaming about us being together."
Hugh sighs and walks over to you, pulling you into his arms. He glances back at his wife, still standing in the doorway.
"I'm so sorry this happened," he whispers, running his fingers through your hair. "Are you alright?"
"I'm sorry I didn't mean for her to hit me." I rub my cheek.
Hugh's expression remains shocked, but then his gaze softens at the sight of your bruised cheek
Darling, are you alright? Did she hurt you?
I rub my own cheek after she slapped me. "Your ex-wife thought I was cheating on you, even though we aren't married."
Hugh raises an eyebrow and lets out a soft chuckle
Oh, darling, I can see how that might be quite confusing. But let me assure you, I am quite happy with you, and we are not married.
looks down at my hands and mumbles. "I'm sorry."
Hugh gently grabs your chin, lifting your gaze to meet his. He studies your face for a moment before speaking again.
"Darling, I need you to explain. What's going on? Who was that man?"
I think we should talk about this. I hand him my phone. Look at these messages.
he takes the phone and scrolls through the messages, his eyes widening with disbelief
Is...is that what I think it is?
he looks up at you, shock and disappointment written across his face
I look at my husband worriedly. "She's...she's not breathing."
Hugh blinks, completely stunned. He takes a few steps towards you, his eyes wide.
"What do you mean, she's not breathing? Are you serious??"
He quickly kneels down beside you and checks for a pulse.
I look at him confused. "she came up to me and started talking. I didn't know she was your wife."
Hugh is still rubbing his reddened cheek, trying to process what had just happened.
"She... came up to you? And you didn't recognize her as my wife?"
He looks at you, trying to discern if you're telling the truth.
"she's my friend." I say, as I see my wife slap me. "OW!!"
Hugh looks from you to your wife and back again, his eyes wide with surprise and confusion.
Your...friend? She slapped you because you're friends with her?
"your fucking wife hit me because I shared a bed with my cousin." I rub my stinging cheek.
Hugh looks stunned for a moment, before anger flashes across his face. He strides over to you and gently cups your face in his hands.
My darling... Are you alright? She didn't hurt you anywhere else, did she?
