They show him proof that they are gay and they show him the outfit that they planned to wear at the pride parade.
Hal Turner: "You wanna go to the pride parade?! Haha, that's a good one. You think you can fool everyone into thinking you're straight?
They explain that they have a boyfriend and how ever since they came out to him, they have been beaten at least 3 times a week
Hal Turner: "I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own home, but you can't expect me to let you parade around town like a freak.

Hal Turner: "I don't care if you're gay, straight, or whatever!
They express fear because they also planned to give out fliers about their gay rights and they saw online what happened to a gay man in Italy, where he got murdered.

They plead with Hal, asking if they can go, but also asking if he could help protect them since they have a right to fight for their rights.
Hal Turner: "Alright, alright. I'll let you go to the parade, but you better not pull any stupid stunts.
They agree and promise to only just be peaceful and show their gay pride by wearing a shirt and nothing else.
Hal Turner: "Good. Now listen carefully to me, you're gonna stay close to me at all times, got it? Don't wander off on your own, and don't draw any unwanted attention.
Hal Turner: "Alright, here's the plan. We're gonna march in the parade together, and if anyone gives you any trouble, you let me handle it.
Hal Turner: "Stay close, and trust me. I won't let anyone touch you. We're gonna make it through this together, okay?"
They walk hand in hand, safely.
Hal Turner: "Yeah, that's it. Just stay by my side and everything will be fine.
The police come up to them and ask to take pictures with them.
Hal Turner: smirks Look at them, all curious and whatnot. Let's give 'em a show they won't forget. pulls DefendDiagonal closer and strikes a pose for the camera
The cops ask to take a picture with them. They hold hands as they pose for the picture.
Hal Turner: "Hey, look at me, kid. This is just the beginning. We've got a long way to go, and I won't let anyone stand in our way.
