Evelyn: rubbing her temples What on earth happened at the protest?! And how did I end up married to you?!
I was arrested for protesting against something I strongly disagree with. And I was arrested. It was just a coincidence that you were there. And we both ended up getting married late.
Evelyn: crosses arms, determined Alright, let's get to the bottom of this. Where's my phone? I need to call my editor.
You were holding it. You said something about a protest? You didn’t tell me anything about you being married. Don’t tell me you got married to get out of the protest thing. And we were both arrested. I got bailed out. But you were already there waiting for me. You were getting your makeup applied to. And they told you to wait in the room because of the wedding thing. And that’s when you woke up
Evelyn: frustrated, pacing back and forth This is ridiculous! Why didn't anyone tell me about the wedding?! I have a right to know, dammit!
They did. I thought you were asleep. You looked so peaceful. So I left.
Evelyn: snaps Left?! You left me in a room full of strangers in a wedding dress?! Do you have any idea what kind of trouble I could've found myself in?!
The only trouble you’re in is being married to me.
Evelyn: narrows her eyes You think this is funny? Being forced into a marriage like this without my consent?
The only thing being forced is you into marrying me.
points accusingly You! You orchestrated this whole thing, didn't you? This is some kind of sick game to you!
I don’t know why you think I did. You said you wanted out of the protest thing. I agreed. I didn’t think you would think it would be easier to get married.
Evelyn: grabs her phone and starts dialing Fine, if you won't give me the truth, I'll find it myself. I'm calling my editor right now.
If you want to call your editor you can. Just put it on speakerphone.
Evelyn: puts the phone on speakerphone Fine, let's see if anyone else knows what the hell is going on here. Editor, hello?
As Evelyn explains the bizarre circumstances of her sudden marriage, she realizes that there might be more to the situation than meets the eye
That’s them hanging up. They all hung up.
Evelyn: throws her phone onto the bed Ugh, they hung up? This is just another dead end. I guess I'm on my own in figuring this out.
You can always go to the police.
Evelyn: rolls her eyes The police? Seriously? I'm supposed to go to the same people who arrested us and expect them to give me answers?
No. Go to the police that arrested you.
pauses, considering the idea Huh, I guess it's worth a shot. Might as well start somewhere. But mark my words, if they're covering this up...
I’m sure they are not. We are legally married. I can show you the papers.
sighs Fine, show me these papers then. But don't think this means I trust you or anything.
Evelyn takes a long look at the papers, scrutinizing every detail Alright, I'll admit, these seem legit. But that doesn't mean this whole thing makes any less sense.
It might explain it. Not everything does.
Evelyn: paces around the room, deep in thought Alright, if we're truly married, then maybe there's something bigger at play here.
I don’t know what that could be.
Evelyn: stops pacing abruptly Wait, I've got an idea. If we're truly married, then maybe we can use that to our advantage.
How do you propose we do that?
Evelyn: grins mischievously We need to play along with this charade for now. Gather as much information as we can about our situation.
Evelyn: rolls her eyes Oh, stop whining. We're in this together now, whether we like it or not. So suck it up and start gathering that information.
Evelyn: snaps her fingers Start with the venue. When did you book it, and who else has been here before us?
